A Sorcerer for Fourth (Arcane Controller, levels 1-3)

Something like this? Cinder Whip Sorcerer Attack 1 You lash out your enemies with a whip of flames. At-Will ◊ Arcane, Fire Standard Action Close wall 4 Target: Each creature in wall Attack: Charisma vs. Reflex Hit: 1d6 + Charisma fire damage. Increase damage to 2d6 + Charisma at 21st level...

A Sorcerer for Fourth (Arcane Controller, levels 1-3)

Sounds like a solid suggestion... Well spotted; it was originally Spear of Willpower, but I thought that stepped onto the psion's toes a little bit.

A Sorcerer for Fourth (Arcane Controller, levels 1-3)

It occurs to me that this power is very strong for an at-will. However, it's effectively a weaker version of Icy Terain, a 1st level Wizard encounter power. THUNDERCLAP vs. ICY TERRAIN At-Will vs. Encounter Ranged 10 (one target) vs. Area Burst 1 within 10 squares (up to 9 targets) Fortitude...

A Sorcerer for Fourth (Arcane Controller, levels 1-3)

Here's the reference on Rich Baker's blog In any case, whatever Wizards decides to do with their sorcerer, this is my spin on it. It's an Arcane Controller with an up-close-and-personal feel.

A Sorcerer for Fourth (Arcane Controller, levels 1-3)

Actually, a Wizards blog confirmed the Sorcerer as an Arcane Controller... I'll dig up the link in a second.

A Sorcerer for Fourth (Arcane Controller, levels 1-3)

Playtested the class today; it seemed to be a fairly effective member of the party, not overshadowing or undermining any of the other PCs. We made a few changes before the game: Sorcerer Needs No Tools was changed to +1 to attack and damage at 1st level, improving by +1 every five levels...

A Sorcerer for Fourth (Arcane Controller, levels 1-3)

Since the archetype for this class is a more up-and-at-'em type than the Wizard, and is likely to be spending a fair bit of time within melee range; I'm considering giving it hit points equivalent to a Leader or a Striker; i.e., 12 + Constitution at 1st level and 5 for every level thereafter...

A Sorcerer for Fourth (Arcane Controller, levels 1-3)

Inspired by Ironblue's sorcerer on the Wizards boards. This sorcerer design tries to be an arcane controller with a different feel from the wizard: a more up-close and personal approach to battlefield control, with lots of melee and close-area powers as well as more conventional ranged powers...

    The Tao of Dungeon Mastery

Absolutely. I wrote this first for a friend of mine trying out DMing for the first time. (well, the second time. The first time went badly. That's why I wrote this)

    The Tao of Dungeon Mastery

I just wasted part of my life reading that and then typing up a meaningless reply. :p

    The Tao of Dungeon Mastery

I don't mind copying, as long as you somehow give me credit ("some other dude wrote this story:")

    The Tao of Dungeon Mastery

Responsibility is an important quality that everyone should posess, not just players. I suppose experience does not maketh the player. But still, I believe it is good to start new players as low-level characters so they can gain experience.

    The Tao of Dungeon Mastery

If the players are good, they'll have both experience and responsibility. Some of my players did not. I have learned my lessons.

    The Tao of Dungeon Mastery

An interesting story: A young dungeon master once found that his players had little interest in his adventures, and often interrupted him in the midst of speech. Therefore, he traveled to seek the advice of the wise dungeon master at the mountain of Sung. The young dungeon master asked the wise...

    tactical metamagic feats?

Nice idea... I thought of something similar, but couldn't think of a good theme for a tactical metamagic feat. I'd say that this should be a Spontaneous Casters Only feat... manipulating the loose ends of magic seems like it should be a sorc type of thing. For the last manuever, how about...

    D&D 3E/3.5 I seek a 3.0/3.5 core Engineer class!

Try Dave1001's completely non-magical Inventor core class from the WotC boards. Takes a while to read, though... lots of detail by dave.

    Opinions of Expanded Psi-handbook

I'd just like to say that I quite like the soulknife... I think it has flavor and potential. If you say it's a one trick pony, well, then so is the Paladin... and not many people have a problem with it.
