That’s what I meant to type. Inference is an operational cost. I was so focused on pointing out that you have to include development costs in calculating profitability that I didn’t catch the error. Thanks for the correction!

I take a daily vitamin D supplement because I have been determined to be deficient…and I’m a dairy FIEND. I consume one or more servings daily of milk, cheese, or yogurt on average.

Based on this: My guess is just milk is not going to hit the therapeutic level needed to see the results they saw in their study. Even increasing consumption of other dairy probably won’t hit the numbers they think were necessary to be medically effective. Won’t hurt, though.
