Oh man, thanks! I missed that.

    HACKMASTER Basic - for free!

The core of HackMaster (the previous edition) was basically EVERYTHING that had been published for 1st & 2nd edition AD&D, from the early issues of Dragon to the 2e "splatbooks" and even Skills & Powers. So, playing a character in HackMaster with the core + the HackMaster splatbook for you class...

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

I like the idea of Kickstarter projects, but I don't think they should be in the "News" category.

    WotC's D&D Virtual Table Cancelled

I don't hate to say "I told you so" but I was really hoping to be proved wrong, wrong wrong!

Review of Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG by Goodman Games

Thanks for the photos, Odhanan. I wanted to see if the pages had the same greyscale backdrop art that some previous GG products had. I'm glad to see the pages are clean. However, it looks like the inside margins aren't wide enough for a book this thick. The reader shouldn't have to force the...

Dave Arneson's Personal RPG Collection For Auction

I bet it has a spring-loaded poison needle trap and contains 1d6 scrolls, 50% of which are cursed.

Hillside Games, Asheville: The Unfriendly Local Game Store

Perhaps this thread has the attention of the parties involved. It's almost the end of April and there is still no store, just a facebook page. Is it going to happen?

1st Edition AD&D Reprints to be available outside North America

As as been stated, it is GOOD that WotC is seeing higher demand for the product, however, they would have been better served by waiting for a "second printing" of these reprints before doing it in order to placate the collectors and Direct Retail market.

Hillside Games vs. The Wyvern's Tale: An Update

OK, so it's the 10th of April, and The Wyvern's Tale has a Facebook page that is updating regularly with game "news" but I still haven't heard of the store opening. Is there a building and date yet, or is this a case of magical thinking?

Hillside Games vs. The Wyvern's Tale: An Update

Or two. Of course, it might not be play. I liked to call it "critical thought" and alot of "constructive thought" is built upon it... more soundly.

Hillside Games, Asheville: The Unfriendly Local Game Store

Nope, they are still in Asheville. That's where I buy my comic books. I still remember buying a Paranoia RPG supplement from them in 1992, back when they also sold CDs.

Hillside Games, Asheville: The Unfriendly Local Game Store

I don't know... I'm guilty of confusing a Wyvern with a Hippogryph. Hillside [is accused of] something potentially illegal. Really, I think The Wyvern's Tale would have been much better served by going directly into legal action. Sadly, an article in the Mountain Express isn't going to do much...

Hillside Games, Asheville: The Unfriendly Local Game Store

OK, the place I am thinking about was going to originally be called "The Hippogriff Game Lounge" and was announced in July, 2011. It was intended to be opened around the end of September. Since you don't know about the AGS, I absolutely believe that I am wrong and you are a different group...

Hillside Games, Asheville: The Unfriendly Local Game Store

I'm getting my information from the AGS mailing list. I might be off by a month or so, but I'm pretty sure that the whole Wyvern's [Thing] was announced last year. That's when someone -- I don't know if it was you or not -- posted on the AGS about how there was a building in mind already and...

Hillside Games, Asheville: The Unfriendly Local Game Store

On one hand, we have an imaginary store, The Wyvern's [Thing], which was originally announced in September, I believe. When it didn't materialize, the folks behind it kind of ducked down for a bit. Now they are trying to spearhead an online word-of-mouth sympathy drive for their store... which...

    What's Up With D&D? for Monday, 20 February, 2012

So, WotC continues to refer to their critical customers as trolls? We saw how well that worked the first time.

Covers for the AD&D 1E Reprints

The gilt-edge hardcover classics that I've seen are around $20 and are 2-3 times as thick. The reasons why this is possible don't matter to most consumers. For black-and-white books like these -- which are reprints of books that are easy to find in used book stores at their original cover...
