    DM as . . .

I agree with this completely, and I try to make my adventures tough but fair. I like being surprised when my player come up with a clever ideas to overcome their challenges. (Of course, I like their ill-conceived plans just as much :p.) P.S. Nice post count! ;)

    laptops in-game?

I've been DMing from a laptop for several years. I write up all my adventures on it and use it for a DM screen (its also nice to have a record of all my past sessions). I also have a ton of mood music on it and a pair of small speakers for decent sound. Just recently I started frequenting the...

And, more importantly, my plastic HeroQuest minis. :p

What books would you like to see WOTC do

Gotta echo some of the above ideas. My list: Heroes of Steampunk Book of Gear - book full of useful items, kits, and alchemy. Great for low-level or low-magic games. I'd like to see a simplified encumbrance system too. Feat Compendium Heroes of Intrigue - this needs some politics too Races...

    Instating Gun Kata into D20

I drafted a gun-fu monk variant for my steampunk campaign that you may be interested in. It's a little rough (and hasn't seen the light of game), but here it is: MONK VARIANT: THE BULLET MONK In your hands, a mundane firearm becomes a sleek and stylish instrument of death. You possess a...

Adapting the Lycanthrope Template to +0?

Sounds quite fair. Curse of the Moon does a great job with simplified, playable lycanthropes. The main reason they have a LA is the moon hit points, though the silver vulnerability can balance that. The only concern might be a few overpowered feats in that book . . . if memory serves...

Toughness - How many hit points to make it worthwhile?

I think the fix for this is very simple: make Toughness the prerequisite of Improved Toughness (+1 hp/level). Improved Toughness on its own seems a little too good for a feat, and it only makes sense that it would actually need Toughness for a prereq. Low-level characters get a nice +3 bonus...

It looks like they moved to the Ronin Arts online store. I originally purchased it at Drive-Thru RPG too.

    D&D 3E/3.5 Recreating 2e-style priests in 3.5

Ari Marmell wrote a pdf book called Classes of Legend: Priests of the Celestial Sphere that basically remakes 2e specialty priests in 3.5. It's pretty close to what you propose, Jester, and may be worth examining (and of interest to other readers of this thread). Here's my review.

D&D 4E What would you like 4E to look like.

A few more things I thought about . . . Monsters could be revised to be a little more PC friendly. Some of the "at will" powers could be reduced to a few uses per day or usable once every 1d4 rounds, which wouldn't effect the monster much during their short lifespan but would keep PC versions...

D&D 4E What would you like 4E to look like.

Gotta echo some of the earlier suggestions . . . Less classes, but with some class abilities that can be chosen form a list. Instead of introducing a ton of new prestige classes, books could introduce new class abilities. Sorcerers, Wizards, and Clerics would have more class abilities, and...

    Fast Healing at 1st level?

To make fast healing less broken for PCs, consider capping the amount of HP in a day, like maybe 5 or 10 hp per level. Its still useful in a fight, but it doesn't make the cleric obsolete. (Idea from Sean K. Reynold's book Curse of the Moon). The regeneration while raging feat also sounds...

If you could add one new ability score, what would it be?

I've toyed with Perception in the past. It modified Spot, Listen, and attack rolls (both melee and ranged). Beefy monsters like ogres or giants could have a low perception, making their attacks inaccurate but damaging. Combine it with an armor-as-DR system, and you could make combat a bit...
