D&D 3E/3.5 Recreating 2e-style priests in 3.5

Like you, Jester, I think specialty priests were the best thing in 2e... but I must admit, this seems like an awful amount of work. We've handled it in my game and Sagiro's game for letting clerics freely swap PHB spells out of their spell list in exchange for "theme" spells from the Spell Compendium and other sources. This encourages customization with a minimum of work.

Ari Marmell wrote a pdf book called Classes of Legend: Priests of the Celestial Sphere that basically remakes 2e specialty priests in 3.5. It's pretty close to what you propose, Jester, and may be worth examining (and of interest to other readers of this thread). Here's my review.

I'll take a look.

I like the mouse's writing. :)

I'm almost done assigning the PH spells... I'm currently working on 7th level ones... then I need to fill in all the domains I developed and see what else needs puttin' on there... then granted powers.

...whoosh, that's a lot. :)

Cool... thanks for the link.

I got the pdf.. and a couple others while I was there :) .. and will check it over this weekend.

I am not sure if my pocket book wants me to thank you or now
