    Dragon+ Issue 11

Nope. It's from the Backdrop: Hochoch article in Dragon 418 as has already been pointed out. It was for 4E but was edition neutral.

News Digest: Kingkiller Chronicles Showrunner is Former Game Designer, Mutants and Masterminds Has a

How does John Rogers get described as a former game designer when that was never anything other than a hobby? He's been a writer and producer in TV and film since the 1990s.

What's is your favorite D20/D10 RPG and why ?

D&D 4E. It was (and is) the first edition of D&D that I felt actually delivered on the unfulfilled promises of the editions we played in the 70s and 80s. And any edition as unpopular as 4E must be good! :)

    Can't Renew my DDI SUB

Fortunately, the not-legal offline tools are easy to find and work really well.

    Dungeon magazine reviews?

You'll struggle to find any. The DDi versions of both Dungeon and Dragon attracted very line online response. I cannot remember reading a review since around 2008 or 2009. You better practise your speed reading....

D&D 4E 4e vs. Paizo: Mommy, Daddy, please stop fighting!

If Rich Baker's name is on it then it seems to be solid... otherwise, I have to agree that the WotC adventures have lost their mojo. I'm not sure what has happened to Bruce Cordell. The same guy who turned out a couple of my favourite 2E adventures (The Shattered Circle, The Gates of Firestorm...

    Game Store in Singapore?

Congratulations. I think you will love the life here. The money is great and tax is so low (as mentioned earlier) so you will find you have a lot more money than before. Singapore has a double taxation treaty with Oz so you won't get taxed again on your earnings when (or if?) you ever return...

    Beefy Minions

I have statted up some military units where the privates and corporals are 1st- and 2nd-level minions, respectively, and the sergeants are 4th-level soldier/leaders. While within the sergeants' aura 5, a minion can make a saving throw to avoid death. The aura is called Hold Your Guts In! as it...

For you FR gurus: Ethics, combat, and a paladin of Ilmater...

That's as stated in Faiths & Avatars. I think that if the the player can argue that his choices are consistent with these guidelines then he is on the right track. The principal question is where does the DM stand on all of this? Is he looking to screw over a paladin for the sake of it or work...

    Running Palladium Fantasy RPG

I loved the idea behind the sword Deathkiss that appears in the adventure included in the 1st edition rule book. Imagine having to roll the rough equivalent of a saving throw to know that you have been damaged by it! I have been meaning to include this in a D&D game for a long time but keep...

Oathbound - my players love it

My players loved it, too, in the two campaigns I ran. I am thinking, though, that it would be much easier to prep for using 4E. I was just looking at my Oathbound books the other day thinking it might be time to bring them out again.

Wilden Name Poll! -- Forked Thread: PH3 Playtest Race: Wilden

Woodwose... now, that is cool. I thoroughly dislike wilden but I like the alternative you have proposed. Perhaps WotC will listen and amend the draft versions of the PHB3?

    [Anti-Edition-War]Common Ground

Good point. The other thing we have in common regardless of game or edition is plot: we all have campaign arcs or plots or whatnot that we can share. The thing I liked most when I first joined ENWorld (and I date back to the very original board prior to 3E's release) was when DMs shared their...

How Close do your Minis Need to Match?

I sometimes design encounters around specific minis I have and want to use but otherwise I don't mind using other minis. However, one or two of my players are a bit, um, dumb (like another poster above... see this white dragon mini, it is really a red dragon... so the player prepares to cast...

    Ideas for a snowy/icy/arctic campaign

If I had the creative mojo I would love to run a campaign set in the arctic equivalent of Dark Sun with warm city states ruled by sorcerer-kings that are the only places of warmth in an eternal winter (perhaps the sorcerer-kings are actually fire giant/fire titan liches... hmmm) but the price of...

    Ideas for a snowy/icy/arctic campaign

Fimbulwinter Brothers will fight and kill each other, sisters' children will defile kinship. It is harsh in the world, whoredom rife —an axe age, a sword age —shields are riven—a wind age, a wolf age— before the world goes headlong. No man will have mercy on another. This is, IIRC, a...

    The Monster Project

This is a "me too" post. You really deserve XP from everyone. I've learnt a lot about 4E from your posts and having the conversions is a real bonus. Thanks again for sharing all your work with the rest of us.

    My DM is retarded

I'm not sure how old a senior in high school is in the USA (why do you guys have titles for everything?), but clearly you're all young blokes and going through the silly stage. That's not an insult, either: we all did it. Why not invite the DM to visit this website and solicit advice? Or...

    D&D Insider: Losing your toys

I don't understand complaining about something that costs only USD5 or so dollars a month. If I worked at Hasbro/WotC and read these sorts of comments I would completely ignore them because if someone is too poor to afford USD5 or so a month they cease being a customer. Sad but true.

    Minion House Rules

Going with the saving throw idea, if you wanted to complicate it a little bit more, but not too much, perhaps the "save or die" only applies if the damage is less than their level/twice their level. If it is more than this easily determined threshold they're just dead without a saving throw.
