    Marking via Dragon's breath

The player's interpretation is correct, dragonborn can mark exactly as he thinks. As stated numerous times in this thread, it is not terribly overpowered and I personally think it is a cool flavor for a dragonborn fighter. This exact combo was one of the first things that came to mind as I...

    Combat takes too long

In my experience 4E combat is about 25-50% faster than 3.5E. It is true that there are generally more rounds of combat involved, but I find that the turns go much more quickly due to reduced complexity of the rules. I've run every single encounter in KotS, and some additional baddies from the...

CustServ on "What is 'an attack'?"

I still don't see how Wall of Fire can be an attack. As stated numerous times in this thread, the only thing the spell does is create an obstacle. That is not an attack. If I light a building on fire with flint and tinder, and you run into the building and get burned, I did not attack you...

Judicious use and description of Minions [Edit-Now asking for stat analysis]

Roll a knowledge check, perhaps a success allows the player to know if it is a minion. In the game I run, it is obviously clear what is a minion since I use paper cut-outs for the minions and plastic minis for the regular guys. But I'm still a big fan of knowledge checks and I think that...

Smart DM, Stupid Monsters (possible KotS spoilers)

My party wiped on the Irontooth encounter the first time as well. It is very difficult for a group of level 1s, even five of them. I think that a great deal of leniency is involved in interpreting the "waves" of enemies. You really must give the PCs three entire rounds of beating up minions...

Nominate Stalker0's skill challenge maths thread for sticky status

Disagree, no sticky necessary. It is a good post by normal standards, but he makes assumptions and uses questionable mathematical techniques that detract from his argument. This is in addition to the logical fallacies contained within his premises. I would nominate it for flavor of the month...

You primary stat should never be lower than 18

I rolled for most of my 3E campaigns, but I was never really happy with the result. Call me a jealous person but I always nursed a sense of resentment when I played a character with 15s in a party with others that had an 18. Furthermore, rolling HP was one of the most exciting and harrowing...

    Role Features... Controller left out?

I think that the wizard ability to choose which spells he wishes to prepare each day qualifies as "controller" flavored.

Improved Fate of the Void [Warlock]?

Just think of it like World of Warcraft. Warlock uses drain soul ---> more power for them to draw upon later. Makes sense both mechanically and balance-wise.

    No tracking?

Call me crazy but I was ecstatic to see the demise of the "class specific" feats/abilities in 4E. Rogue trapfinding and ranger tracking were roadblocks to creative character creation in my experience. I think it is much better to use a skill based approach, which also encourages multiclassing...

    D&D 4E Is 4E a 'Rules Light' Game?

Compared to 3.x, yes it is rules light. Maybe 25% - 50% the amount of tables and arithmetic calculations. Compared to any other board game though... definitely not rules light!

    How will this party do?

Rangers can potentially have a very high AC though, they aren't terribly squishy like the casters. The ability to deal more damage per round can be a reasonable substitute for a lack of tanks and leaders. I'm running KotS with my group and the paladin couldn't make it to the session, so they...

    Attribute scores don't make sense

I think it's fine the way it is. Even ability scores give you a modifier increase, odd ability scores are typically used for feat qualifications. When you ding certain levels, you get a choice of which scores to increase, either for modifier or feat reasons. Seems great to me.

D&D 4E 4E, Healing, and Suspension of Disbelief

LOL, that is some great trolling. 5 year old professional wrestling aside, if you read the comments carefully, nobody is refuting that going from 1HP to -1HP constitutes a physical injury. In my opinion, the far sillier notion is playing a game where people are being impaled and having limbs...

Eladrin Wizard Character Sheet -- Problems, comments, etc?

Overall it looks pretty good, I like the concept. I was wondering if you were aiming for any particular feats, due to the position of the ability scores. Perhaps you might consider putting more weight into your primary ability score of INT. STR: 8, -1 CON: 15, +2 DEX: 13, +1 (+2 race) INT...

    D&D 4E Another Review of 4e

I don't think that emphasizing miniatures will diminish the player base. There are tons of people that enjoy the collectible aspect of the hobby. Look at the millions of people that play collectible card games, minis could be the thing that finally convinces some of them to start playing D&D...
