D&D 5E Essentials: More like 3.9e than 4.5e (link inside)

So, the Essentials Fighter: Knight preview is out, free for everyone to read. As expected, it has pretty much only MBA-modifying stances, and instead of dailies it seems they get class features. I'm not sure how I feel about their pseudo-marking aura, tho. Oh, and they get Plate Proficiency...

    Interesting house rule from gabe@pennyarcade

For some reason, for both 3.X and 4E, I always thought this houserule was RAW. Maybe it's just that most DM's I've played with have ruled it this way.

A Concern About Wizard's Race Designs of Late

Back when I was DMing, my campaign world was only "human", the different D&D races being different human clans/ehtnicities/the like. So, for example, Goliath were humans that lived in mountains, AKA mountainfolk.

    Play experiences: Warden...

Pretty much just grab polearm momentum, Swift Spear (slide one on OAs with spears), Rushing Cleats, SWP:Greatspear, and go to town. Form Of Winter's Herald = They can't shift. If they move, you slide them 2 adjacent to you, and knock them prone. Oh, and they're slowed too if you took Sudden...

    Battleminds: OK defenders, fantastic... strikers?

The miss damage comes from Hammer Rhythm, a feat, not from the power itself. A Ranger dual wielding hammers with that feat would also do 2*Con mod damage on a miss/miss.

The Battlemind is out on the CB

I don't know, Mind Spike doesn't have the Weapon keyword, would it be affected by Winged Weapon?

    Class Acts: Bard

I'd be quite worried if one of my minions tried to fix my codpiece with a power with the Weapon keyword :P

    Class Acts - Wizard

2x Mystical Debris + 1x Storm Pillar = Block a ton of squares in a single round

    Invisibility and Warden Marking

To expand on 1, let's check Nature's Wrath: And now, let's check, say, Blinding Barrage: Emphasis mine. Hope this clears up things a bit :)

    Inherent bonus rules

My current idea for houseruling this (warning: they have yet to be tested) is using the intherent bonuses, giving each PC roughly one magicl item per tier that scales automatically as their inherent bonus increases. For example, they get a "Flaming Longsword", instead of a "+X Flaming...

    Beholder - "solo monster"

I remember one of the Neverwinter Nights expansion also having a dungeon chockfull of beholders.

    LFG booted from DragonCon

Just for the record, I'm as much an American as someone from Canada is (meaning, I do live in America, but I don't live in the USA). Yeah, that's why I said that was from my general statistics class way back in college. I have no idea what are the standards in epidemiology/vaccines/medicine in...

    LFG booted from DragonCon

Well, to be honest, I don't remember much about it. I'm quite positive it was the H1N1, because, well, that's what everyone's going on about these days. The nurse that applied her the vaccine told her there were no side-effects, but she didn't seem that reliable, given that my sis had a high...

    LFG booted from DragonCon

Just a random anecdote- My sister, a med student, got a vaccine a few days ago (could have been the H1N1, I honestly don't remember), and after having the shot, she finds out that it wasn't thoroughly tested, and that around 1k people in Canada developed someoneorother's syndrome (pretty much...

    Outlaw Press stolen artwork accusations

Oh, I know that, but I think his lawyers should earn their pay :P

    Outlaw Press stolen artwork accusations

FWIW, you could also tell your lawyers to find out who is hosting their website, and send them a formal email letting them know one of their customers is illegally distributing copyrighted works. I remember stuff like that working before- but it was by pretty big companies, no idea how it'd go...

Dragon 382 - Winning Races: Dusk Elf

And..... how is that different from having different cultures or groups of <race> that like/dislike a particular deity/race/food/color? Or are we not allowed to have a group of elves that hates, I don't know, Bahamut?

Roll of Classes: Classes Available Throughout D&D's different editions?

Can't help on older D&D classes, but I'm quite sure you mean Capoeira. At least it's the only martial art related to dance that originated in South America

    Dragon Controller article up

Heh, did notice that. I'm thinking Barbarians swinging their axes and sending enemies flying, tho it's probably not optimal. Must've missed that it didn't need to hit. Hmmm. Guess it can get pretty borked as an Effect.

    Dragon Controller article up

Anyone else think those aren't that powerful to merit being Dailies? I could easily see them as Encounters. I mean, an area Push/Prone is not that powerful, is it?
