What is a class in Essentials?

But they do, a Hunter can choose Ranger feats from a Scout, the same for Slayer and Knight. They share some "common knowledge".

What is a class in Essentials?

Like I said in the beginning: "First, I know what classes and bullds are, this is just a mental workout exercise inspired by a table discussion."

What is a class in Essentials?

chitzk0i, I know the rule exists, but if you mix players from Core and Essentials it does get confusing... core have builds, that are suggestions of what to get at each level, Essentials have subclasses (but they never use that word) which looks sort like a build but you are obligated to follow.

What is a class in Essentials?

The discussion I had was sort of like that: - I need to specify what is the core class so that I can know what other sources I can have for powers (like level 6 Fighter Utility Powers). - But if you have Fighter as a class (as is Fighter, knight) than the Knight becomes just a build so I can...

What is a class in Essentials?

First, I know what classes and bullds are, this is just a mental workout exercise inspired by a table discussion. Another way of seeing that is: What I put in the Class field on the character sheet? Knight Fighter Figher, knight Knight (fighter) and so on... From the "Heroes of" books it...

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

Klaus, now do that description to 78 feats, 240 powers, 5 classes, 10 races (that's what I have translated already) ;)

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

Klaus, I meant to say the berserker is made from an adjective, my mistake. We can play in english, and the first few games we played in english and the game goes on, but I have to tell them what is everything and describe all powers and stuff to them. I want them to be able to freely choose a...

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

Dannyalcatraz, both are really hard to do in portuguese. A friend of mine translated two paragraphs that describe the berserker class in Heroes of the Feywild (I still haven't got the chance to see the book), here it is. It might make it easy to imagine words to fill the blanks: Alguns entre os...

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

Dannyalcatraz, this is also part of my research. I work at an Humanities University so I have access to SOME materials that are help (old dictionaries help a lot). But we have no history course so I depend of online resources for history research. Berserker is particulary problematic because it...

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

Wepwawet, I do like the original versions, thats why I have all the books post Essentials and the 3 core ones from 4e in english. But my players are mostly childs and teens who still don't have much grasp of english to understand what some obscure name means or to read a descriptive text and...

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

Brazilian translation of berserker Today I was flipping through the Players Handbook 2 in portuguese at a store, and noticed that Frenzied Berseker was translated as Enfurecido Frenético (frenzied infuriated). I think that is dead wrong, since the berseker surely will meet with words like rage...

Brazilian translation of berserker I double posted by accident, please ignore/delete this post.

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

That's what I meant, but I think that instead of just reproducing the pronunciation (which sometimes gets really ugly) I could just adapt the word, getting rid of obvious foreign elements (like the -ng in the end of words). This would make Tieflino for example (trading a G for an O). BTW: The...

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

I think I'm becoming an expert on fantasy terms by mistake... lol... I had said that previosly: Just found this out: Common Eldarin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia You just have to move the 'd' in Eldarin one place to the right to get Eladrin. Based on all that should I translated Eladrin...

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

Klaus, in this case I was making a thought experiment on how it would be translated. I came about this when I remember that you said Eorlings was translated to Eorlingas. I didn't quite like the keeping the suffix -ling and just adding an -as. In spanish Tiefling is translated as Tiflin, it has...

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

Just out of curiosity, what would be the portuguese equivalente of suffix -ling? Is it variable? Can you give me any examples? I got this doubt after I thought about what would be the direct translationg of Tiefling (keeping the Tief- radical). Ex: Tiefo? Tiefino? Tiefídio? Tiefiano...

What exactly is a D&D Warlock?

elf_beto, I purposely didn't list it because that's not the meaning that I want ;) Shade/Shadow in this case is a synonym of specter/phantasm, a theme that is overly used with the Illusion school of spells (calling an illusion a phatom, specter, or shadow of something else). In this particular...
