Looking for a new RPG - Recommendations?

We are enjoying the look of savage worlds so far. Thanks everyone for the recommendations - I'm sure we'll get to trying the others out when we can.

Logistics of a real Superhero world

I think the only thing he needs to do to become bulletproof is buy a leather duster. One of those suddenly 100x thicker and bullets aren't getting through it. Or does only his Indian garb grow with him?

Logistics of a real Superhero world

I know one thing- things would have been different if the only old west superhero was Apache Chief.

Logistics of a real Superhero world

I think I should, actually. I read up on it on wikipedia and it sounds cool. I'm a fan of Alan Moore's deconstructionist stuff and it sounds like maybe there's a connection there? edit - oh, he wrote on it too... and I can pick it up on amazon for ONLY like $400!

Logistics of a real Superhero world

It depends on how good the superheroes are at their job. I for one imagine that in a universe in which people have superpowers they would immediately enslave mankind. Even the good ones would corrupt quickly.

Looking for a new RPG - Recommendations?

Hey gang I'm a 3.5/Pathfinder player looking for a change of pace. My best friend and I are having more and more trouble organizing play time around busy real life schedules and we were looking to try a new RPG that we could play one-on-one. I know that may seem weird, but we even did that with...

    What weapon represents humanity?

Woud you say that the cape hunting dog is better at persistance hunting than primitive humans?

    What weapon represents humanity?

Well, if you really want to get semantic and nitpicky about choice of words, "design" is probably a poor one. :) And yes, persistence hunting predates weaponry, obviously. But my point was humans are not overall better than everything else in the animal kingdom at running down prey (even if our...

    What weapon represents humanity?

But does that endurance render humans the superior predator when it comes to foot-pursuit? I view it as more of a compensation for lack of speed and killing ability (pre weaponry) than as an establishment of overall advantage. Which is really better at chasing an antelope - a primitive human or...

    What weapon represents humanity?

Also known as "running down" prey. I wouldn't say humans generally have an advantage over animals in this department. The wiki mentioned sweat as an advantage, but surely this is poor compensation for the greater speed of animal hunters? I just thought of another good candidate - the lance.

    What weapon represents humanity?

Regional weapon familiarity makes perfect sense.

    What weapon represents humanity?

Part of the problem is trying to "think like an elf" (or orc, etc). What would such a non human see wielded by a human and think "Gah, look at that weird human weapon," from that point on associating it with the race? it boggles my mind to even try. Longswords are out BECAUSE they're so common...

    What weapon represents humanity?

My friend and I were talking about the tendency of races to have weapons named after them. The elven curveblade, the dwarven waraxe, weird orcish double weapons, etc. Then I thought of the old joke - "In China, they just call chinese food 'food.'" An elf would no more think of a a sword as an...

    Your best combat descriptions

For minor blows I like stuff like "You bangle him right in the gulliver." I keep that stuff light and short and save the good ones for the kills.

Player X Scores a deadly hit! His trident flies from his hands, separating the goblin's head from his shoulders and pinning it against the far wall. The headless goblin does the fish dance for a little while, spraying blood around the room before falling down dead. I would share more of my own...
