D&D 5E Dark Sun Conversion: Campaign Guide & Monster Manual

Sorry I’m just blind or something but in the OP, I only see a DropBox link for your Monster Manual and not the campaign guide.

Did you have a link to your campaign guide?

D&D 5E Would you play D&D if you knew there would be no combat?

Nope...I’d play something on the FFG Genesys system instead.

What's Your Favorite System for Star Wars

Reading this, I can say with 100% certainty that you have not played the game yet. Leia is a Diplomat/Ambassador who picks up the Force Sensitive universal spec and then Commander/Figurehead as her third spec. Luke is an Explorer/Trader who picks up the Force Sensitive Spec, then Ace/Pilot spec...

D&D 5E The Larger Failure of "Tyranny of Dragons"

I’m really curious after reading your posts. Your type of game is the absolute least favorite type of play that I enjoy but I understand that some folks dig this. My question is this...you seem to put little value on character motivations/backstory/goals or any kind of RP driver beyond “beat...

    Best Rules Add-Ons

I give a +1d6 Damage to attack’s from flanking (because it’s always fun to roll more dice) but I also count an attacker circling an enemy and entering the rear square as leaving threat range, prompting an opportunity attack.

D&D 5E Crafting Items - Expert Craftsman vs Adventurers

The bonus for an NPC smith should be as good as you narratively want it to be. Just set it.

Robert Schwalb releases his version of Warlord

No, Int-based Tactician warlord, no deal. Not sold.

    D&D 5E Recommend A Book (or 5) To Buy

Take a break from D&D and buy the Degenesis Rebirth Core Set. Comes with two books, Primal Punk (setting and lore) and KatharSys (game mechanics). Best post-apocalyptic RPG out, beautiful production. RPG developed by Marvel Comics artist Marko Djurdjevic. The books are beautiful, the depth of...

D&D 5E Your Adventuring Party Names

The group of newbies I run SKT for call themselves The Six Pack heh. Makes perfect sense when they’re led by a Drunken Master monk lol.

D&D 5E Awarding One Magic Weapon only to each player in a campaign

You could always do legacy weapons that you have to improve by questing for rare or lost materials. They’d improve as the characters advanced through the tiers.

If you could only play one---

Well, it’s seems obvious that most people like playing humans so I’m not mentioning that. My favorite race other than human that I’ve played frequently are the monster races of hobgoblin and goblins. Along with the added challenge for RP, I really love the depth and flavor of hobgoblin culture...

    About the War Cleric......

Which is what any other cleric could do except do better because they’re ability doesn’t compete with their spell. Spiritual Weapon doesn’t do anything for a War Cleric.

    About the War Cleric......

I believe he meant it is not useful after level 3 because clerics get the level 2 spell Spiritual Weapon. If you cast Spiritual Weapon in battle, that eats up your bonus action attack with an attack that is in most cases stronger than the War Priest’s Blessing bonus action attack. I agree 100%...

D&D 5E The Case for Inspiration

I don’t just grant Inspiration if the player is role playing their trait. That’s expected. I grant Inspiration when the player is roleplaying their trait even to their detriment or party’s detriment. When they don’t compromise on their traits. That’s when they get the Inspiration.

D&D 5E "Warlord" Fighter sub-class from MMHFT podcast. Further duscussion.

Don’t get why it doesn’t make sense that the tactician can only focus on one area. Mearls specifically pointed out that this is a leafs from the front battle tactician so if you have to think of it in simulationist terms, in the heat of battle, he’s really only going to be able to pay attention...

D&D 5E The Case for Inspiration

This is really similar to the way FFG’s Star Wars handles “hero/plot” points but it’s a resource trader between players and the DM so it’s less driven by personality traits and more by need. There is a double sided token on the table. In those times that the players really badly need something...

Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour: The Warlord

Perfectly ok with focus on Intelligence and it adding another Charisma-based subclass to the game. The Warlord is a tactician and mostly designed to influence party members so Charisma focus is not really needed. People can still play the Charismatic Fighter, Paladin or whatnot to emulate...

D&D 5E Say “No!” to white miniatures

From what I remember Quick Shade is like a premixed version of Army Painter Strong Tone. I use Strong Tone diluted to sometimes wash a whole mini to bring cohesion to all the different colors with that tone wash. Not sure if Quick Shade is dark enough to shade the grey primer...if it is, it...

D&D 5E Say “No!” to white miniatures

A base coat would cover the shading unless it’s a really light or translucent color. Also, most of the pigment from the wash would be sitting in areas that you would expect to be shaded anyways. See below, a recent mini I painted for one of my new-to-DnD players.
