Well, inasmuch as I don't recognize WotC or Hasbro as having the privilege of deciding what I think or why, I guess I'll just have to not subscribe again.
Jerks.
No. Modiphius' license covers TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, and the associated movies, and material from STO and some of the novels related to those series has crept in here and there. Nothing filmed from 2009 forward is included.
A collection of new-to-5e monsters might be the only reason I'd consider picking this one up. I haven't been particularly interested in what I see as a book of reprints of material I could convert on my own if I felt the urge.
In fact, I do disagree, on each point. But that's not what's important to me at this moment. What's important to me at this moment is this: I. Have. Had. Enough.
I've been annoyed for quite some time with that segment of fan communities - maybe small, but definitely loud - that seems to find...
I find this argument to be a straw man. No one said that, certainly not me. What I did say was that it's free, so there's no harm in judging [including criticizing] for yourself. And I stand by each and every word you didn't read.
Gee, I don't know. Maybe so you could make your own judgment at no cost to yourself instead of taking the prevailing opinion in a highly unscientific survey as some kind of gospel truth?
I'm sort-of a professional GM these days: co-organizer and primary DM for a club for university ESL students. I'm not getting anything beyond my base salary as a lecturer, but it is kinda fun being able to play during working hours!
I'm planning a Midgard game for next semester for our ESL D&D club, and doing some preliminaries for a Forgotten Realms game sometime in the future. (The Realms game could conceivably include bits of Spelljammer and/or Planescape.)
