D&D General Belts of Giant Strength?

you can always say that feats require natural ability score if you want to pick them.

D&D General Belts of Giant Strength?

agree with most of it, that is why I kept the fixed amount that items give, but reduced it to reduce cheese builds. if item gives on +2, it will not be that useful to someone with 8STR, but 14 is a nice STR score for someone that was weak naturally. item then can be a nice way to "patch up"...

D&D General 70% Of Games End At Lvl 7?

one fine solution is to remove all 6+ level spells from the game. you can keep uscasting if you want or not, maybe some iconic 6th level spells can be moved to 5th level, Arcane gate, Create undead, Mass suggestion, Harm, Heal, Summon fiend True seeing are all good 6th level candidates to be...

D&D General 70% Of Games End At Lvl 7?

this is main way to see higher levels. start at levels 5-7, level up every 3 or 4 sessions. if you play biweekly, for a year, that is around 8 level-ups. and most campaigns survive for about a year.

D&D General Belts of Giant Strength?

for this simple reason, I have changed the "ability" items. belt of giant STR, various types. +2 STR(max +2) or 14 STR, whatever is higher +4 STR(max +4) or 16 STR, whatever is higher +6 STR(max +6) or 18 STR, whatever is higher

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

there is not ASIs later at all, so it is gritty. this is worse that commoner. why would you play a commoner? in d&d world, you would not survive 3rd level with this array

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

Cleric murdered a 5yo boy as a sacrifice for his god, rest of the party managed to track down the grave in the woods, now we have to metagame how not to execute cleric on the spot for it. Someone is making new character(s) for the next session...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

I do not think that it would change much in combat. there would be an increase in utility(rituals). in combat everyone casts same 2 or 3 spells of a given level. druids and clerics can prepare any spell and yes maybe one spell is changed every long rest. maybe.

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

this is only rolling method that I like, now we are in the game where we rolled stats. My sorcerer is doing fine; 10,16,14,13,14,20 fellow rogue is even a little better; 12,20,14,14,16,14 however, the cleric got shafted: 15,13,16,10,16,10 barbarian is also doing great: 20,16,16,12,14,12...

little of a necro here but, for 2014 version; Gloomstalker/Assassin Lore bard/Aberrant Mind As mentioned Bear totem/Vengeance pala Bear totem/Moon druid Artificer armorer/Abjurer wizard Gloomstalker/Samurai for all attacks in the 1st round with advantage. Elven accuracy for extra cheese...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

I agree, you have only 16% of 16+ STR, even with +2 bonus included. the +2/+1 or +1/+1/+1 pushed the average from 10,5 to 11. now the average array of 11,11,11,10,10,10 can become 12,12,12,10,10,10 or to have little diversity, average Joe has array of 14,12,12,10,10,8. arrange it how you will...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

if you use 3d6 for abilities, the average, that is 1 in 216 chance to have an 18, and as everyone in 5E has +2/+1 bonus, the +2 goes to 18. that is, 0,46% of population has 20 STR.

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

this is where reality needs to give ground a little to game balance or think about 20 STR armor as heaviest jousting plate that was ever made. impractical for average foot soldier but not for the strongest man in town. also it's the reason the 2d6(greatsword) is more or less in same requirement...

    I was thinking something more granular 1Handed weapons and Bows damage: 1d4, min STR N/A 1d6, min STR 6 1d8, min STR 10 1d10, min STR 14 1d12, min STR 18 2d6, min STR 20 properties: thrown(40/120), +2 min STR(min 8) reach +6 min STR(min 12) Versatile(deals 2 damage types): +2 min STR(min 8)...

I said that to make STR viable, ALL weapons and armor should have MIX STR, starting with 8 and up to 20. dagger could be N/A for STR
