Kickstarter TerraTiles: Hexagon Terrain Tiles For RPGs And Wargames

I backed their previous, now OOP, TerraTiles projects and have been using it for my miniature wargames. They're a good alternative to owning multiple outdoor game mats, hill terrain, river terrain, and forest terrain. I mostly play solo miniature wargames, so shuffle up the tiles to make a...

RPG Evolution: So You Got a Bad Review

I used to be a DriveThruRPG reviewer, until I stopped because I accumulated so much RPG material. IMO, While a bad review is a concern, it's more important to get your RPG product noticed. Reviews only work when someone is already familiar with your content, or if it's suggested by a newsletter...

D&D General Let's Look At Loke Battlemats

Old thread, but the info's still valid. (: Loke Battlemats has their retail spiral-bound 9x12 "Big Book of Battlemats, Volume III" out, and it's both a fine supplement to the larger 12x12 books (eg. Town and Taverns"), and a portable starter for new GM's. I have a review on RPG.net, along with...

D&D 5E Untold Encounters & Wilderness Battlemaps Expand Your Exploration Pillar

Very late reply, but Loke now has non-spiral foldout maps (as well as digital maps) with their "Box of Adventure: Valley of Peril" (retail) and "RPG Toolbox" sets (KS starts tomorrow). The foldouts are also good in that, if you need a really big map, you can just put one foldout next to each...

D&D General Could A Npc be Racist towards Elven Thieves but he's willing to befriend Elves that aren't Thieves and he will tolerate Thieves that aren't Elves?

There's probably some sort of cognitive dissonance or distortion or whatever psychological description of behavior that would describe this. In effect, the NPC has a prejudice / stereotype, but anyone of that stereotype that he accepts is an exception, so the prejudice / stereotype is still true...

    RPG Evolution: Tips for Reviewers

Good points, all. I've been a reviewer on RPG.net for a few decades. I'll add to suggest a target audience. I'm writing a review on Loke Battlemat's "Big Book of Battle Mats, Volume III", which is spiral-bound. Well, not every gamer likes spiral-bound. So, in the review, I'll mention the Loke...

Worlds of Design: Peaceful Solutions to Violent Problems

Give them a hammer and everything looks like a nail. With D&D, not only is the game system focused on combat, but winnable combat. I ran the joke Fluffy Goes Down the Drain adventure from Castle Greyhawk, and, not only did one of my players meet Juubilex (he was on vacation) but attacked him...
