    Press Releases?

I am an artist who creates game-specific materials, mostly dungeon tiles and papercraft scenery. In the past, I would have used the Press Releases board to announce a new product becoming available, but that board no longer seems to exist. I have no intention of violating any rules, or...

    The Changing Face of Reading

This is EXACTLY what happened when I started my 4e campaign after several years hiatus from DnD (and RPGs in general). The group approached it the same way we would approach a board game. We skimmed the book to get a quick idea of what we should be doing, and we winged. Then afterwards we...

    Fantasy Gun Control

15 years ago I was very against guns in a fantasy setting, but now I'm pretty open to the idea of using them. ONe thing that changed my mind about it, is that I have seen it implemented relatively well in various settings where it is entirely appropriate, like the Warhammer Universe, Solomon...

What fake gaming terminology does your group use?

In our group we say chargen and charsheet, pronounced char-jen and char-sheet. Think it goes back to Quest for Glory, where to save precious screen space, they shortened character sheet down to char sheet, and not realising at first that it was an abbreviation I'd taken to reading it as written.

Hook for Outside Help to Thieves' Guild?

Well... The powers-that-be within the guild could have heard of the party through their exploits and decided that they were clearly destined for great things and came to the conclusion that it was worth their while to get these future legends into their organisation early. They approach the...

What fake gaming terminology does your group use?

Also, when someone rolls triple 1s on 3d6, we call that "Koeberg Snake Eyes". Koeberg being the location of South Africa's one and only nuclear power plant. :)

D&D Tropes you like but are tired of

All dwarves are drunken, scottish sounding comic relief. Don't know where this started, but I suspect it's Blizzard's fault. All elves are Legolas. Worse since the movies came out. All human rangers are Aragorn. Much worse since the movies came out XD Don't hate any of them... Just would like...

    Halflings or Hobbits?

I think the idea of a hlafling rogue came about specifically because the dwarves in the hobbit hired Bilbo as their "burglar". When it came to the original Dungeons and Dragons, they kinda shoe horned the entire halfling race into being Bilbo the Burglar. When races stopped being classes in the...

What fake gaming terminology does your group use?

We have this thing called "Stupid Tax". It's not a RPG thing really, it gets used whatever game we're playing. Basically, if you forget to use an ability, or roll an extra dice, or apply that modifier, or whatever and time passes and you remember halfway through the next person's turn, you...

Old game setting people were working on, dinos and Romans Empire

That's a pity... sounds like it was an awesome concept!

How do you deal with traveling in your games?

I suppose it also depends where in the session the travel takes place. If possible, I try to keep the players engaged where they are until the end of the session, so that departing from their location is the end of this session and arrival at their new destination is the beginning of the next...

    Halflings or Hobbits?

Halflings. But they're still hobbits. None of my halflings will ever wear boots.

    Random Generator Printout

Well, if the only thing you don't like about it is the fact that it actually would cost you money, then you've got to make do with the free options which are basically limited to online generators, or making it yourself. Can guarantee that if you'd really find it as useful as you imagine it...
