What's the most anticipated RPG of 2015?

Fragged Empire should be out this year.... Mouse Guard 2e - Boxed Set and Hardback Rules again at last! Tunnels and Trolls should (hopefully!) deliver on its Kickstarter....

    D&D 5E New DMG Excerpt: It's A Trap!

I get what you're saying, but I assumed (possibly incorrectly) that the DC value accounted all those points? After all, the trap is meant to be hidden so lighting, etc shouldn't make a difference (it's captured in the players passive perception). And if they're looking for it, they're no longer...

    D&D 5E New DMG Excerpt: It's A Trap!

I guess there's no ideal solution, so each DM can choose to modify the rules to suit their requirements as always. I've never preempted whether the players will trigger a trap or not, mainly because they either will or won't search for traps when that situation arises, may have/do something...

    D&D 5E New DMG Excerpt: It's A Trap!

Ah, gotcha. Glad they dropped that, it doesn't make sense to me for a trap that is already in place! :) However, it does make sense for the creation of the trap in the first place, to set the appropriate DC level, of course.

    D&D 5E New DMG Excerpt: It's A Trap!

I'm not quite sure what you mean here. You either manage to spot the trap (Passive Per >= Spot Trap DC) and can stop before triggering it (your foot hovers over the pressure plate), or you walk blindly forward failing to notice the trigger. You can't stealth your way past a mechanical trap, that...

If someone had cut off YOUR ponytail, wouldn't you want to get it back??

    D&D 5E Difficulty of Converting Pathfinder / 3.X Stuff?

Sorry, should have been clearer - I meant divide by 10, so as you say 100gp becomes 10gp and so on, rounding up or down as desired.

    D&D 5E Difficulty of Converting Pathfinder / 3.X Stuff?

I've converted the Forge of Fury adventure and the players are currently working their way through that. I had no problem just inserting the like-for-like monsters from the MM or tweaking the NPC stats to match those listed in the published adventure, dropping them into an Excel template I...

D&D 5E How would you do Yellow Mold in 5e?

I've never really looked at the exhaustion rules too closely - this discussion has piqued my interest so I'll have another read over the weekend. I guess I was thinking of them more as an environmental effect (trekking through the mountains, etc) that accumulates over several hours/days, rather...

D&D 5E How would you do Yellow Mold in 5e?

That actually makes for an interesting, and potentially quite lethal, encounter idea! Skeletons, zombies and the like which are dormant, covered in yellow mold, which then animate when the PC's start poking around. I think I'll use that.....

D&D 5E How would you do Yellow Mold in 5e?

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that playtest example. It still seems a bit weak, instead of targetting Constitution directly, it just hits for normal damage. I much prefer it to have a long-lasting impact, such as targetting Con directly or at least reducing maximum hit points. I'm not quite "old...

D&D 5E How would you do Yellow Mold in 5e?

Ah, thanks for spotting what I missed! So we could revert Yellow Mold back to doing 1d6/2d6 constitution damage, recoverable after a short/long rest as per the 3/5e rules.

D&D 5E How would you do Yellow Mold in 5e?

Newbie D&D 5e DM, so please be kind..... :) I've just started running 5e for my group, and have started with the Forge of Fury adventure from 3.5e, updating the creature statistics as best I can. I've noticed that there appears to be no attribute damage any more, from any creatures (e.g...

    D&D 2E Looking for a 2e adventure to run for 5e

That would be 'Lords of Darkness' (the 1e version, not the 3e which is entirely different) which has a series of short adventures featuring undead in rising difficulty level - from skeletons/ghouls to liches! Pretty easy to adapt and drop in to a 5e campaign.

[Newcastle, NSW, Australia] - Call of Cthulhu - Seeking New Players for Existing Game

Hi, I am currently running Masks of Nyarlathotep and would ideally like another 2-3 players for the game, which has just recently started and is almost through the New York chapter. I'm interested in hearing from any mature players, no experience required. Munchies are brought and shared, no...
