Oh, and to make a difference between starting out as a wizard and picking it up later. What if the bonus spells a wizard learns for his INT score are only learned if the class is taken at 1st? Yep, the wizard who spend 6 years training picked up more knowledge then the rogue who decided a bit of magic was the thing he needed, taking a learn by mail course and doing his study in the pub. Also, at higher then 1st level, they are more likely to be able to afford to buy several scrolls to expand their list, a bit costly, but shouldn't learning wizardry cost more?
