1,001 ways they could screw up 4th Edition D&D...

What are somethings that could cause 4th Edition totally unappealing to gamers? What if, 4th Edition D&D was complete flop, and why?

1. After releasing the Player's Handbook in May of 2008, WotC announces that the WORLD'S LARGEST PLAYER'S HANDBOOK will be released in September 2008, which has 1200 pages and costs $300. Only rules from this handbook are considered "official content," making the paltry 200 page PHB obsolete.

2. 4e is backwards compatible with only the Original 1974 Boxed Set and not any other edition since then.

3. The new D&D miniatures and dice come un-painted, but they also come with assorted crayons so you can "customize" them.

4. Humans can only advance to 12th level in any class. This reflects their short lifespan.

5. Elves and dwarves start off at 12th level in any class. This reflect their long lifespan.

6. Gnomes and Halflings start of at 6th level. This reflects that they're just short.

7. After 4th Edition comes out in 2008, WotCs announces at GenCon that 4.5e will come out in May of 2009... :p

9. In keeping with their highly successful and wildly popular randomized miniatures line, WotC will include a sealed character card in the back of every PHB. Character creation is an optional rule listed in the DMG, players are expected to use whatever random character comes with their book. Additional characters will be made available in booster packs later on down the line.

10. When the Book of Vile Darkness is released, users will be required to get AdultPass accounts to access the online content.

Damage dice for spells must be purchased directly from WotC; no more raiding Mom's "Yahtzee" set.

Each die needed costs double what the previous die did. Ex: 10th level wizard casting fireball (10 dice) will pay $1.00 for the first die, $2.00 for the second, $3.00 for the third, and so on), plus a $.50 per-roll fee.

Each die will contain a microchip that alerts WotC when a it is rolled and automatically debits your credit card or Paypal account.

After 100 rolls, new dice must be purchased, as each will self-destruct at that point.
