1/2 elf drow

If a character wants to play a 1/2 drow 1/2 moonelf do you still consider them a full elf statistically? Just replacing the low light vision with darkvision. But still recieving the bonus and penalties of a normal elf? Is this addressed anywhere. Races of Faerun perhaps.

There is no set rule for this, but the generally accepted idea is that "elves breed true." Meaning that a child resulting from a pairing between a dark elf and a moon elf is either a dark elf or a moon elf themself, not an amalgamation of the two.

The half-drow found in Races of Faerun is a half-drow human, though, not a half-drow moon elf.

so any suggestions on how to handle this, besides one or the other. If this is to work it has to be a true hybird not just 50/50. I have an idea but just want some other input first.

Isn't the iconic druid supposed to be a half-elf that has no human in her? Everything official says she's the interbreeding of two different subraces of elf.

She uses regular half-elf stats. It's very confusing.

Give her Drow traits except for the SR and Spell-Like Abilities, and drop the LA to +1.

Is moon elf different than core elf?

I only ask because if someone wanted to play a regular elf with darkvision in lieu of low-light vision I don't think it is that much of an upgrade. Drop off one minor ability and you are pretty much set. In some camps just being half-drow would be penalty enough to balance it... but then again all of that is contingent on moon elf being more or less core.

Why can't you use the drow stats and just SAY that it's half moon elf/half drow? There's enough similarities between elf types that it'll work mechanically - anything else should just be fluff text.

I'd say one or the other dominates. If you want, offer the other's abilities as Feats.
