Out of curiousity, what sort of problems have you had with the game? I've had realtively infrequent crashing (an invalid page fault around every 2-3 hours or so- though sometimes in only 20 minutes, and sometimes in 5-6 hours. And the latter case, it's good because I shouldn't be playing that much). And I mostly put those to my somewhat ancient computer.

On the game itself, while it would be nice if it actually followed the 3E rules, and had turn based combat, not the diablo-ish whack-mole style, for the most part it's pretty decent. Also nice if it actually had more portraits/character graphics. They spend years on the game, and have 1000s of TSR pics to borrow from, yet there's only a handful in the game? What were they thinking...

Bored already

I have to agree with darkside. It was a good game and kept my interest for a couple of weeks but its worn off now. Maybe its the module included with the game but it seems to be too much like diablo. I find myself just hitting "1" whenever I talk to people because they talk for too damn long. And I just want to kill things inorder to advance levels. The storyline has been lost on me and my friends.

I have attempted to use the toolset but man does it take a LONG time to do anything. So much easier to use the PNP method.

This game did not enhance my PNP D&D experience but it did make me realize why i enjoy the PNP method much more than CRPG.

Not many. I have had a crash or two, and the toolset is a bugger to use (maybe that's just me though...) I actually like some of NWN rules better that their 3rd edition counterparts (Power Attack for example). It is a little too much like Diablo, but the story has me hooked, so I can't really complain there.

My only problem is that I've just entered Chapter 2 and I'm already 10th level. And I actually missed some of the indie quests (saving the Zoo Animals, various henchmen quests) from the previous chapter!

At this rate, I'll have maxed out by the middle of chapter 3.

PErsonally, I find the toolset to be very easy to use. I mean you do have to learn it, but its not that hard. I've played around with some other game tools, and actually got a playable(if not very interesting) unreal tournament level made. Compared to what came before, the NWN toolset is unbelieveable.

As far as the scripting, you don't have to learn to be a wizard. You just have to learn enough to tweak someone else's script. There's tons of scripts out there, and whatever effect you are wanting I'm sure someone else has already done.

I spend almost all of my free time either working on my campaign or playing those others have done. The official campaign IMO was made to make the diablo fans happy, and didn't keep my attention past chapter 2. The community is where the value of this game lies.

Had a great time learning to use the module creator, am having a good time going through the single player game (helps give me ideas for types of quests beyond "pick up item X and return it to me"). Very much anticipating digging in deeper to the module maker once I'm done with the single player game.

I wasn´t hoping for much in the single player part so I wasn´t disappointed there.

But the toolset was a *big* disappointment. Partly because it was really sluggish (on a 1,4 Ghz!) and mostly because it wouldn´t allow me to do what I wanted to do.

I understand that the toolset has to be modular, but do the building blocks have to be so darn big? It´s really not that flexible. :-(

It could be me, and I´ll give it one more chance, but I´m leaning towards "biggest disappointment of the year".
