Just a few minutes ago my four players left my place having completed our 100th and final session of a campaign we've been playing for just under four and a half years. We ended with the PCs completing their epic quest to return an über-artifact back to heaven from where it was stolen by well meaning angels when they tried to use it to teach magic to mortals.
The quest was completed successfully and the PCs, surprisingly perhaps, didn't fight the BBEG who had the artifact in the end, but rather managed to reach a compromise with her. Many loose ends were tied up and the PCs got to witness the birth of a new god (the artifact turned out to be the unhatched offspring of a divine union).
Much fun was had by all and we celebrated with an ice cream cake I had made featuring the PCs drawn as Order of the Stick characters. I even gave them each a small framed picture with the same artwork as keepsakes. They loved them. Here's a copy if you're curious to see it:
All in all the players seemed to have a great time and left satisfied. I'm just happy to have finished the campaign with a proper sendoff. Every other campaign I've run has always fallen apart because of player conflict or people moving away or simply fizzling interest. I can chalk this one up and move on to other things now. Yay!
Why am I telling you all this? No real reason beyond the fact that I'm happy. Yay!
