100 campaign sessions!

Just a few minutes ago my four players left my place having completed our 100th and final session of a campaign we've been playing for just under four and a half years. We ended with the PCs completing their epic quest to return an über-artifact back to heaven from where it was stolen by well meaning angels when they tried to use it to teach magic to mortals.

The quest was completed successfully and the PCs, surprisingly perhaps, didn't fight the BBEG who had the artifact in the end, but rather managed to reach a compromise with her. Many loose ends were tied up and the PCs got to witness the birth of a new god (the artifact turned out to be the unhatched offspring of a divine union).

Much fun was had by all and we celebrated with an ice cream cake I had made featuring the PCs drawn as Order of the Stick characters. I even gave them each a small framed picture with the same artwork as keepsakes. They loved them. Here's a copy if you're curious to see it:

All in all the players seemed to have a great time and left satisfied. I'm just happy to have finished the campaign with a proper sendoff. Every other campaign I've run has always fallen apart because of player conflict or people moving away or simply fizzling interest. I can chalk this one up and move on to other things now. Yay!

Why am I telling you all this? No real reason beyond the fact that I'm happy. Yay! :D

Congrats!

My "Out of the Frying Pan" campaign ended in January 2005 after 103 sessions, so I know the feeling well! In fact, my next story hour installment will be of our 100th session!

Isn't it great to be able to be finished and look back and have those warm feelings and good memories of a campaign well-played?

I want to try to find out an easy way to give my players print bound versions of the edited complete story hour as a keep-sake - seeing as it is already over 1000 pages long. :heh:

Congrats, Ambrus!

I'm sure your players appreciated the extra effort you put into the end there, with the cake and the drawings. Here's hoping my next campaign can last as long as yours did--and end on such a high note!

I think it's cool that you were open to having a climax to such an epic campaign without needing a big fight with the BBEG. Congratulations.

I always try to stay open to whatever the PCs want to do. The PCs pulled off a DC 62 Diplomacy check though and they did essentially offer the BBEG what she wanted. :heh:

I'll admit though; it was hard. I'd spent most of friday completing her stats and working on her tactics. She would have so kicked their asses... :]
