101 Exciting Fight Locations

On a sinking ship in the storm of the century.
In your mind to avoid being possessed.
On a rickety collapsing stone bridge at night during a lightning storm.
In a hospital (or healing center)
On a cliff in high winds. Really high winds.
In the eye of the hurricane as lightning crawls up the wall of wind and stuff (like trees).
On a burning airship
In a coal mine in an earthquake.
On an asteroid at the end of time itself, while being buffeted by gravity waves and bathed in hard radiation... in a vacuum of course.
In a carrier zeppelin, as she is launching an air strike.
On a burning crashing flying castle
In the space shuttle as it just starts to rumble.
On a collapsing flying mountain.
In a C-5 starlifter amongst tanks and stuff.
On a plane of skulls with a blade forged from the bone of a god which was forged over a fire made from the fat of virgins.
In a super tanker full of gasoline that's headed towards your city.
On the color of sky blue in the realm of imagination.

In the swirling chaos of limbo, in the middle of a three-way battle between slaad, githzeri and githyanki.

Just outside the encampment of a huge army of a mutual enemy in the dead of night, where the PCs and their opponents have to make sure not to rouse the sleeping army.

Balanced atop a the logs floating down a river from a lumber field to a mill, half a mile upstream of a waterfall.

Inside an Animated House (Garguntuan Animated Object).
I actually did that once. The PCs vs The House. The House's attacks consisted of closing the gap betwin floor and ceiling to smash n' crush unwanted visitors.

Inside a maze made of Walls of Fire, against fire resistant bullrushers.

In a crowded market square (the evil wizard can still use his fireballs, what fun)

A ritual circle--all that is needed is a sacrifice within the circle, and something horrible will happen. If the PC's know about this in advance, it'll be fun as they try to avoid inflicting lethal damage against the much weaker cultists. Of course, the cultists are under no such restriction themselves....
So stolen for my game! great idea :)

I actually did that. The PC's were inside a stone colossus (a war machine from Xen'Drik), trying to stop agents of the Emerald Claw from using an artifact to transfer the mind of the main bad guy into the colossus, giving him a virtually invulnerable body of godlike power. Halfway through the fight, they succeeded, and the rest of the fight was trying to remove the artifact as the colossus rose and began to walk.

In islands floating in an infinite void. Some kind of flight would be handy. As it happens, I've already designed a map for just that.

In a museum. Innocent visitors have to get out, those antique weapon displays come in handy when you get disarmed, and it gets interesting when the necromancer the PC's are fighting animates the Megaraptor skeleton that formed the centerpiece of the main hall.

Any interior arena, on fire. Falling timbers, the exit is being cut off, the floor gives way at a very poor moment.

An area of scrubland, just after the monsoon starts. The rain is so intense that you can't seen ten feet ahead, it's hard to move as the ground turns to liquid mud, the noise makes it impossible to hear anything, and then the lightning strikes start....

A cramped and long-neglected graveyard. All those tombstones make it really hard to move about, sephulcures provide useful vantage points, and some of those ornamental statues might actually be construct guardians, programmed to react with deadly force if their tomb is damaged.

These are great! I love the Colussus and Ritual Circle. One of the ideas I had for the Colussus is that its controlled by someone being in the head. The players and bad guys fight from the feet up, trying to gain control first. (either through hollow spaces in the body or by climbing the outside)

We had our party attending a religious ceremony in their honor for vanquishing the evilness in the area (standard stuff), and the BBEG and his minions showed up in the temple and started trouble.
Challenges:
This was a very, very holy structure where there was no fighting allowed (the paladin was in complete torment), any damage done to the structure was considered to be blasphemous (so much for the elvin ranger with missile specialty), there were a hundred innocents around, and they were being celebrated (and had already been paid) for their killing this creature.

On long docks, during a storm, against aquatic opponents who can easily swim under them for cover and who cut ropes causing ships to drift each round. (Did this last session, LOTS of fun).
