1st ed Illusionist, bringing back the feel of in 3rd ed.

For me a prestige class doesn't cut it, because I don't want a regular mage who has decided to be an illusionist, but I liked the original class as a dedicated illusionist. I I guess I just have too many fond memories of playing an illusionist, and having fun surprising the encounters with my spells.

Thanks to all of you for your advice. I have looked into Fantasy Flight's School of Illusion, although I am not sure if it is in Canada yet.

I also appreciate the work that went into the illusionist on that web site.

I wonder if I am caught in a bind. As a DM, I could restrict the spells available to non-illusionists, thus maintaining the flavour, but then I can't play one. On the other hand, it is highly presumptuous of me to ask another DM to restrict the spell lists of all non-illusionists just to be able to play one that is compatible with the old style. But the ideas above have given me reason to hope.
