1st level human wizard feats....any idea?

Except the fact that Elf generalist wizard gives you 1 extra spell known per level, Collegiate gives you two. Assuming the character gets to 12th level (just an arbitrary #) he/she stands to 'save' ~4,200gp and 12 days downtime. Assuming that the char scribes the highest level spell possible each time.

But...yes, I do like Precocious apprentice better, especially for lower levels, and if you go incantatrix, the +2 spellcraft is very useful.

Hence my use of the term "similar" benefits, not "the same" benefits. Also, to run a true benefit analysis you have to factor in the odds of being targeted by something elves are immune or more resistant to, since we're comparing a human collegiate wizard to an elf generalist wizard . . . ;)

But i thought you cant take energy substitution without having a metamagic feat?

AFAIK, that is correct.

However, you could take another metamagic feat at that level, and depending on your DM, you could even take another metamagic feat with the same prereq, each bootstrapping the other.
