But...yes, I do like Precocious apprentice better, especially for lower levels, and if you go incantatrix, the +2 spellcraft is very useful.
Hence my use of the term "similar" benefits, not "the same" benefits. Also, to run a true benefit analysis you have to factor in the odds of being targeted by something elves are immune or more resistant to, since we're comparing a human collegiate wizard to an elf generalist wizard . . .
