2 Days 'Till GenCon . . . Why am I not Jazzed?

Ok, so it's 2 days until I leave for the big boy. This will be my 5th year, and I'm not feeling all revved up like I normally do. Why? Burnout? Malaise in the industry? No new releases that are catching my interest? Look, I'm picking up Ptolus there, and that's awesome, but my happiness already seems baked-in.

Help me, Obi-Wan! People, what am I missing?

I dunno, Eric's Friday thread seemed to jazz up a lot of people for going! (Of Course, since the defusing of the rumor-hype over the weekend, this is lessened, but not completely).

For me, it's all about the people I'm meeting when I do go, because there's a lot of faces I'd never get to see otherwise. Do you attend any of the regular gatherings outside of the con itself? (The ENnies, the get-togethers at Little Canadia, the TB Rapscallions, etc.?) That's what brings the whole thing to a new level, for me.

Um, there's a whole forum for these fine events! Not too may threads, and the 'faux Canadiana' thread is pretty constantly on the first page.

As an old-timey Mystara DM (well, not so old timey, I guess -- I used the post-WotI continuity, although I also ran an all-hobbit campaign in the Five Shires), I'd be all over the Goodman Games table, pawing at their campaign world and picking up their new $2 module, myself.
