Only if you like dealing with a system that should never have left the sheltered confines of D&D. :)

I mean, come on, who in their right mind thinks that a Strong hero should get less skill points than a Fast animal? and what does the Handle Animal skill have to do with a Strong hero and not a Fast hero anyways? Not to mention, a Smart hero by definition should probably have a much higher Intelligence than a Strong hero therefore will gain more skills do to the Intelligence modifier, he doesn't need to have 3 times the number of base skill points. And lets not even start talking about basing BAB or reputation on Strong, Fast, Intelligent, etc. basic hero types.

AARGH!

I think we can credit the DnD boom to the anticipation and later success of the LOTR film and I don't see it slowing down with the new movie, even with the LOTR RPG being available.

Um... talk about putting the cart before the horse... I think the "DND boom" can be credited to the same thing that the "anticipation and success" of the LOTR movie. And that would be... the LOTR books.

LOTR spawned DND, not the other way around.

Don't forget the d20 Blaxploitation game.

I can hardly wait to use it in my CoC game. Or Blacthulhu game, I should say.
That would be Solid!, being put out by Otherworlds. I've been talking with Dave Webb @ Otherworlds, and it's gonna be dy-no-mite!

I never said DnD spawned LOTR. Reread my statement for me... back yet? Ok... I said the current DnD boom is due to the anticipation of the LOTR movies. I am not talking about the boom of the 70s and 80s, but the current boom due to the release of 3E and the number of people feeling nastalgia due to the LOTR movies etc. that has been occuring (trust me, it is happening, I have a friend who hasn't played since 97 and now he plays constantly again). Originally I think the boom was "oh my god, new edition" hype, then the D20 boom occured and then the LOTR helped a GOOD bit. Nothing huse, but not a small thing either.
