2005 WotC d20 Modern product: d20 Apocalypse

Oh, I dunno about that. 1E Gamma World did it in just 48 pages. I'd rather have 96 good pages, than a big hardback, half of it filler.

Was 1e Gamma World only 48 pages? Man, hard to believe. That book was SAH-WHEEET.

But I agree completely. 96 pages is actually quite a bit if used correctly. I was flipping through the AD&D 1e Player's Handbook the other day and amazed at how much raw information is packed in that book, and it was only 120 pages or so.

Bring on d20 Apocalypse, baby!

I hope they don't, Omega World was too 'Toon-ish, as I've stated in other posts. Nothing against Mr Tweet, that's just not what I'd like to see in d20 Apocalypse.

Agreed. Omega World was more like a parody of Gamma World than an actual Gamma World. Great game for what it is, but not what I want in Gamma World.

I am happy with the outcome, but I want to make clear that this will not be an updated Gamma World v.x. It will have its own identity.

Which is cool. As you mentioned, if I can use it as a toolkit to effectively run an old-skool Gamma World campaign, I'll be more than satisfied. :)

It's kinda weird that WOTC can only put out 2 hardcovers for 2 Modern a year (or 4 96 page books). I mean, Mongoose puts out what, 2 hardcovers a week? (okay, not that many, but more than 2 a month.)

Quality over quantity, my friend. Mongoose books tend to have, what, 10,000 typos each? ;) Although I must confess that for typos it was hard to top Urban Arcana. :\

Anyway, good, I found Darwin's World (1st edition at least, haven't seen 2nd) to be well done, but not to my taste.

Me too. I've always found Darwin's World to be too "Mad Max" for my taste, and not enough "Rabid Mutant Plant and Crazed Mutant Badger". :p

That sounds more like Tank Girl..

Some of my players had the same complaint. I think that it would have looked more serious if the art had been different. But, the game is awesome mechanically and a dream to run or play. The little humorous bits in the text are priceless, too.

Redline has the Mad Max theme pretty well covered.

Anyway, I'm certain that d20A will be sober enough for you, if it's anything like previous d20M product.

It's not that I *need* it to be sober, I just always asumed the Apocalypse would be, well...a downer. ;)

I guess let me state...I'm not a mutation fan. So, alot of the mutation stuff doesn't interest me. I did like the d20 Gamma World idea of nanites inducing mutant-like abilities and powers and tricks. I like scientic and psuedo-science. I guess I'm a little past "the bomb" ;)

Not me brother:)

Count me in for The Bomb destroyed civilization, warped everyone's genes, and what didn't die off is what was left to breed.
