[2006] Renting a floor at the Embassy Suites

Embassy Suites Question regarding reserving a floor.

Another option who those who don't mind going off site

Nestle Inn

It is 1 mile from the convention center.

Map

5 bedrooms (each with a private bath)

Common areas include a parlor, library, lobby and a second floor seating area, snack bar, microwave and refrigerator for guest use.

and apparently they have a deal where you can rent the whole place for 500 per day (plus $75 tax), Which works out to 115 dollars for each bedroom per day.

Although I have not seen any mention of parking :\

Good news to hear, Buttercup! Maybe we can think of a few ideas, and Peter Adkison and friends can see if they will work. (I understand it was about 100 degrees for a few days. Maybe someone might want to set up a cooling tent -- with water sprinkling down -- for convention goers and the public at large. I have seen the same sort of tents or cooling areas set up at amusement parks. It might help keep people cool, clean, and refreshed.)

I just remembered that the WotC Delegate program does game demonstrations. They might be interested in having some activity outside the gaming center.
Somehow, the smell "Wet Gamer" is not on my "odors to adore" list. :p

I could be down for this, if we stay in the Embassy Suites again. I'll be honest, our group (5 rooms) had no end of trouble this year, because I wanted to pay for all 5 rooms but they ended up trying to charge my card like 20 times, then tried to tell me it was my fault even though the bank said beyond a shadow of a doubt that I had the money. I spent probably 2 full hours at the front desk this year, and was very unhappy. So, if they can't handle me just paying for 5 rooms (they even locked two of my rooms out on Friday night) how well will they handle 30 room requests for the same floor?

An ENWorld floor sounds nice and all but the problem (for some) may be the committment involved. I think there are lots of people who decide to go to the con at the last minute. Admitedly, the ENWorld crowd sounds like the type that probably has all their acts together early on, but as nice as the Embassy is, I kind of like the Westin better. Though the 'suites' part of Embassy Suites sure was . . . sweet.

You know, a common tactic for any group that wants to demonstrate its economic impact is to use $2 bills. I'm not necessarily advocating that, because it sounds to me like a royal pain, just mentioning it as a matter of related interest.
GPs are likely to stand out.

How does it fare compared to the Mariott Courtyard ($200/night).

After taxes and parking, I think I paid about that. However, at the Embassy you get a suite, a free, lavish breakfast and happy hour included in the price. Plus you have a balcony to fall off of if you get drunk enough. Who could ask for anything more?

We really liked the Embassy. Aside the elevator issues on Sunday it was a great place to stay. With IronPup along with us the two rooms were near necessity to allow him to head to bed early without that meaning Lady IronWolf had to tiptoe around the room the rest of the night.

How many people can fit into a room? If you can get 4, that's only $50/night, which is very reasonable.

And if it has a happy hour, it is the bestest hotel ever!
