2008 Judge Selection Begins

I'm very interested in running this year. After watching the process and reading MotG's blog on the subject, it seems like a whole lot of very rewarding work. I might not be the most well known poster around here, but I feel I have a lot to bring to the judges' table.

I think I would like to run again. Especially since I have the time to do it since I am self employed and can take as much time off as I need to.

I'll think about it some more.

I think you'd make a great judge.

While I'm far removed, I have been paying a fair bit of attention and would like to share two observations that may help your chances:

1. When voting opens mobolize your local roleplaying community. Post to mailing lists, stop by the local forum, and call up your buddies. It's not like there's anything sinister about it, the ENnies are meant to be an inclusive award and making people who like you well aware of it helps everyone. Especially you ;)

2. When you write up your biographical information for the site be aware that you're writing a campaign message. Many people are going to hit the ENnies voting booth with a couple of people in mind, but they'll end up voting for others based solely on those entries. It's your best chance to convince people you don't know to vote for you, so take good advantage of it.

I'm pretty sure I'll run again- it sounds like a lot of work, but also a fun and interesting experience.

I'd be happy to second you! :)

I'd second you Treebore. :D

I love you.

Where do I send the check?

Seriously, I definitely welcome the support. As soon as nominations start being accepted Monday It'd be great to have your second.

You have my second. :)

(Or, rather, you will once you are official.)

One of the biggest problems we faced this year was companies waiting until the last minute to submit their products. The spectre of having to get copy to Australia in time for judging mught actually scare those submitting into mailing their products ahead of time.

Of course, it's Dextra's call but, in my view, everyone would benefit from your entry.

Yeah, the posting to Australia factor is one that I thought might put some people off from entering their products. That's something I don't want to do. You may be right about scaring people into posting their products off later though. Maybe the fact that the judges are going to be named well in advance will mean that most books will reach the judges earlier. We can only hope I guess.

Oh, and thanks for your support fusangite.

Dextra, any official position on my eligability as a potential judge?

Thanks I will!

Now I just have to come up with a little election speech/blurb (providing someone seconds my nomination).

When will a nominations thread be up? And is there a form or something to fill in?
