2025 Character Creation Challenge & More

Day 5: For this character, I'm revisiting one of my box sets pulled off the shelf. This time it's Paranoia RPG (1st edition).

Introducing Lest-R-SOL-1*. He's a new troubleshooter from Alpha Complex. He is a member of the Protection, Logistics, and Commissary service group. While he hunts traitors to the Computer, especially mutants, psychics, and members of Secret Societies. Lest has the magnetosense mutation and he is a member of the PURGE (Omega Dawn) Secret Society. Lest risks execution by secretly prepping and cooking his own food. All he wants to be is a chef, not an assassin for the Computer. Long live the Computer!

* For those new to Paranoia, a character name breaks down as following: (short name) + (letter representing one's security clearance; in this case "R" for Red) + (three letter code referring to the residential unit) + (one digit number representing the clone identity; in this case since it is the first clone out of the batch; max is six per character). I went with SOL for the residential unit because like all Paranoia characters, eventually he will be naughty word out of luck.

Looks like a really fun character but in the end it is Paranoia so it’s not how he lives but how he dies that counts 😉

I like the Master or the Weeping Angels for this (though honestly the WA fit the vibe, not so sure on the lore.)
I'm leaning towards the Master or some other renegade time lord, perhaps one of original creation. The set-up of No Man's Land (an isolated time zone) surrounded by strange mists suggest the War Lords are involved (same M.O.) but I'm thinking that's too obvious. The renegade time lord does need henchmen/dupes. Time to pull out my copy of Cubicle 7's Doctor Who RPG Gamemaster's Companion book for some inspiration.

Cheers,
Tim

You could pull some thematic imagery from King Arthur! Keep people really guessing.

Day 6: Pèlerine (French for Peregrine) is the British codename for French citizen, Chloë Audette. She is active in several French resistance groups. The Germans killed her husband. She vowed to not rest until her beloved France is freed from Nazi occupation. She is a member of the Special Forces unit, Allied Task Force A3 (known more colloquially as the Mad Bastards). This character is for the WWII: Operation Whitebox RPG.

Day 7: It's back to the Red Dwarf RPG. Jefferson Mutt is an evolved dog from Deck V of Red Dwarf. Unlike his family who serve the great machines of Red Dwarf, he pursued a career as a chef. He is the greatest chef and dancer that Red Dwarf has ever seen. At least in his own head, he is. The fact that he is taste blind doesn't help his cooking and as for his dancing... A bull in a china shop has more grace and finesse than Mutt will ever have. Mutt makes a Tasmanian devil look like a professional Russian ballerina in comparison.

Tim

Day 8: Scott Spencer is a member of the Toronto Ghostbusters franchise. He is the team's accountant and he is hoping the franchise makes them rich, but he suspects that Terry Victor has oversold them on the deal.

Day 9: Mizah Moonstone is a MERP (Revised) character. She is originally from the city of Umbar. She was the only daughter of a wealthy merchant who paid her way into the Wizard’s Guild. She spent her time there wisely. She has since joined up with a small group of like-minded adventurers as they explore Middle Earth.

Day 10: Damophon is a Greek lyrist and poet from Classical Athens in 621 BCE. He believes in exercising both body and the mind. He was one step closer to playing an original composition at the theatre of Dionysos in Athens until he, and eleven other sapient beings, were timejacked (hijacked from time and space). They found themselves in a strange land known only as No Man's Land. He and the others are searching for a way home while avoiding the various hostile creatures that were also timejacked. This character is for the FASA Doctor Who RPG.

When I first started working on this campaign idea, all I had were a bunch of sapient beings (humans and a few alien races) were timejacked to a weird place known as No Man's Land. I've expanded on the idea since then.

No Man's Land is actually a TARDIS that has become "inverted." A Third Zoner faction (with aid from a renegade time lord) tried to hack and steal a prototype of an experimental Type 83 TARDIS, but they bungled it. They cause the TARDIS to malfunction in an unknown and strange way – the TARDIS turned itself inside out. Instead of going to other places and times, it has become a fix spot that allows those time periods to come to it. The heart of No Man's Land is a organic-like stone spire reaching out of the surrounding forest. This spire is a multi-level building with many chambers and strange doors. Each door opens to a different time period. In the heart of the building, hidden behind various tricks and traps, is the control room for the TARDIS (should it become fixed, the TARDIS would revert back to its normal, default composition).

Those that were timejacked by the TARDIS were selected at random (or, is the TARDIS looking for allies to correct her fault?). Located in No Man's Land are the Third Zoner hackers lead by Dr. Jorlang and an unprincipled Time Lord named Typheneus.

Day 11: Beth-R-IFF-1 is a new troubleshooter in service to the Computer. She is a member of the Central Processing Unit service group while she hunts traitors to the Computer, especially mutants, psychics, and members of Secret Societies. Beth has the advanced hearing mutation that she hides with fake, but official looking cybernetics. She is a member of the Computer Phreaks Secret Society.
