Reality Maelstrom... Very nice spell indeed. :p
Hide Life is super mean as well.
Chain Contingency is a must have.

I also kind of like Amber Sarcophagus from the BoED. Trap a creature in a small amber sphere for up to 1 day/level. Pretty nice
 


Some spells that I've found particularly useful.

From Tome & Blood:
Absorption
Chain Contingency
Dimensional Lock
Energy Buffer (for those attacks you're not expecting)
Energy Immunity (for those attacks you are expecting)


From one of the FR books (can't recall which):
Improved Blink

Some less overpowered spells...

Another spell I personally like is Superior Resistance from Savage Species.

Also some of the improved Darkvision spells (PGtF lists those and the sources) are nice, one let's you see in darkness with no range limit and the other even in magical darkness. That can be handy at times.

Energy Immunity is probably a must-have by that level.

Entropic Wave
Transmutation [wild]
Level: Sor/Wiz 8
Components: V, S, M
Range: Medium
Area: 20-ft. radius spread
Saving Throw: Will half (object)

You send forth a burst of entropy, guiding the random changes toward a negative result, causing living matter to decay as though it were aging quickly. This entropic decay deals 1d8 points of damage per level (maximum 20d8) to creatures, and 1 damage per level (maximum 20) to objects, ignoring hardness.

Attended objects are unaffected if their bearer succeeds his save, but if the bearer fails his save, make a save for each attended object. Those that fail take 1 damage per level.




It's a nice spell if you're not looking for looting. From Wild Spellcraft.
 

Duplicate, I think is the name of the spell, from Book of Eldritch might 2. It essentially makes a copy of you that shares your spells per day, but has his own initiative and own actions each round. Its level 8, I think.

Also from one of the books of eldritch might, a level 5 or 6 spell called Prohibit kind. Its a 30ft. radius spell that allows only one type of creature to move through it. No save, only SR. Everyone else is frozen in statis and cannot be hurt.

Btw, improved blink is from Unapproachable east. So is improved mage armor (lvl 3, gives up to +8 armor, if I recall).

Yeah, it's a great spell. But I think the [evil] descriptor, as well as what it does (An Undead Warrior wielding a maggotblade?! :eek: ) mean it's not appropriate for my character. But my next character.... :] Thanks for the tip, mafisto!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I've picked a about 18 spells, so only 2 left to choose. Most were fairly high level (7-9), but I did pick a few "lowly" spells, like the 5th level Quintelemental Blast from The Book of Eldritch Might.
