24 - 4e style (closed)

It's pretty clear that we aren't coming to a consensus. Here are the options I see.

One: Capitulate to the people who lacked patience and lept into a situation they are inadequate to protect themselves from the consequences of and have at least one defender go down to soak up the miniony buffet. (Please note Undead Minions WILL eat you.) This will leave uss doubleteamed by the Flameskull and skull lord in a round or two, with the outer defenders harrying us and the minions hampering us and soaking up actions.

Two: Stay the course preferred by both tanks (including the one the Healer is useless for helping, I jhave 2 surges, and a 2-surge minor action SW), which has the disadvantage of losing another round of actions for those downstairs. We've gained some time due to minion death.

I'm going in vacation in a caribbean resort starting saturday evening.

I have some last preparations to do but I hope to be able to run the bad guys one last time before that.

After that update, there will likely be break. I doubt I'll post from the resort, though I do have DDI and the compendium... So it depends on the rates they charge for the internet and how much alcohol I am ingesting. Both are expected to be high so don't hold your breath...

In all likelyhood, I will resume regular posting on monday, january the 19th

Heh. How cold is it up there? Even we with our typically mild winters got down to -20° Celsius this time... *brrr*

Bye
Thanee

Normally in Vancouver its incredibly mild (no lower than -10C or so) but over the three weeks away it snowed non-stop and hit -20 I think. We broke all kinds of snow level records. In three weeks it snowed more than the last two years combined. Quebec, where Mal is from, is another story. When I lived out that way I remember skiing in -50C weather one winter.

We need to delay the ritual by killing cultists and stop it by drawing the bosses onto us - hopefully then killing them!!

I think
a) Garrick and Leyra try to kill as many cultists as possible for one or two rounds/till the biggies react then run like f**k for the upper level.

b) Meanwhile someone use the missile machine to provide covering fire - probably the most wounded of those above.

c) the others above take out the cultists above so we can use other panels to shoot from.

What do you reckon?

Leyra, you miss two things. The minion are weaks, and we need to dispatch only a few per round. Two would be enough. When there would be not enough minion, they would come to us and they will come into your range.

And you are true, there is only a few danegrous oppnent, and it is exactly that, they are danegrous, really dangerous. I estimate that combat to be a level 10 encounter, take or give 1. The three headed skull is really tough for a level 6 party. Add the two monk (when know they can be really troublesome), the flying skull (he was really annoying on the dam) and the zombie and two cultist and we are in deep trouble.

Over that, we have already start to expand encounter power and other ressources. Finally, you just gave up our main advanatge, the ground.

1) Higher ground make them almost impossoble to fight while climbing.
2) The doors are bottleneck, so only a few can come at a time. The other will have to take the stairs at the other side and will spend a few round without doing anything usefull, but us, we would dispatch a few of them.
3) Finally, Garrick could easily sneak by hiding behind teh wall and just poping out those door to shoot and go back into hiding.

We just gave up every advantage we had by just going down there. I know Mal, he is also my real life master, and he is not affarid to give us overwhelming odds if we have something to offset there strength... and we are not using that advantage. That's how I see the situation.

But if you prefer: Soon on your screen: 24, season 2: Bailor in rampage.
