Caught in the vortex created by Barrion, two of the monks can't follow and opt to throw shurikens at Dagran.

vs AC 21 + recharge wail (1d20+13=16, 1d8+4+1d6=14, 1d6=3) miss, wail power doesn't recharge

The the gears of the machine whines as it grinds to a halt, the engine having runs it course.

[sblock]No square of darkness at this point and Barrion's rod light up the corridor. Garrick and Nathan should just remember that they are facing dim light if their target is within 5 sqaure of the hound.

The machine is simply difficult terrain now.

"Dagran, those two in the corner won't be held there much longer. Let's smash this one so we can take the fight to them!"

Barrion then lowers his defenses to provoke the Monk into attacking him.

Barrion's gamble doesn't pay off perfectly, as Dagran misses and the Monk catches Barrion with a square strike. The Eladrin doesn't even get his Witchfire spell off successfully.

"That didn't work the way I intended it to..."

[sblock=OOC]
I rolled for the Combat Challenge and the monk's OA. Badly. I'll edit if need be. I hope the Monk chooses NOT to take his OA and I have to edit.

Standard: Use Witchfire against DM 3. Provoke.
Dagran's Interrupt: Combat Challenge vs. AC 22. Combat Advantage, Potent Challenge (1d20+14=18, 2d6+11=22); Miss.
DM3 Opportunity Action: Opportunity Attack vs. Barrion, should he choose to make it. Shadowwalk Applies. Vs. AC 20 (1d20+10=30, 1d8+4=9); He crits me and deals 12 damage.
My Attack vs. Ref 20 DM3; Withfire with curse damage. Prime shot accounted for. (1d20+10=11, 2d6+1d6+6=18) I rolled a 1. This round sucks.

[sblock]Wow. Talk about (virtual) dice hating you...

No foul about assuming the Monk would take the AoO, even though it might have killed him. Given the nature of a PbP post it would be too cumbersome otherwise. And yes, I realize it might lead to more of this particular tactic (with hopefully better dice). I don't mind.

By the way, this was an attack of opportunity, not an immediate interrupt. So Dagran had a +2 bonus to the attack roll due to his wisdom bonus. It still misses, but by an even smaller margin. I love tormenting players ;)[/sblock]

Leyra

“I told you, not to worry,” Leyra repeats and looks into Nathan's rather disheartened face, as the warrior succumbs to unconsciousness due to his many wounds.

The cleric then becomes a beacon of light as warm radiance begins to glow around her. Soon, Nathan and the others feel the warmth inside them beginning to heal their wounds. Nathan also gets another healing prayer to bring him back into the battle. They would still need his sword.

OOC: Standard: Beacon of Hope (heals 11 to everyone; attack on DM3 21 vs. Will, success => weakened for one turn);
Minor: Bastion of Health on Nathan (heals 13 + HSV);
Move: Move to K19.

Cursing, at first under his breath and then out loud - and even louder! - Garrick struggles unsuccessfully to free himself from the grasping shadows. Whether his vaunted acrobatic skills or even his, admittedly limited, strength, nothing seems to work.

"Someone give me a hand, will you? These blasted tentacles have me trapped."

[sblock=OOC]Can't be bothered posting roll links. Suffice to say IC really hates me![/sblock]

Mirage moves a bit further down the corridor to get a better vantage point on the battle. Using his orb he drops a zone of grasping shadows amongst the monks.
