I'm not even watching the show this season (my local cable company got into an argument with paying rights to rebroadcast Fox, and lost the right to broadcast it. Even so, I know that this is only the first of three additional years Keifer Sutherland signed a contract for. I could see Ricky Schroeder joining the cast, but I don't think Jack's going anywhere - at least not for a couple years.

If they are not going to kill him, perhaps the observations that Jack is looking more tired than previous seasons is a prelude to him doing less field work and that's where Ricky will step in.

No. They would need Regeneration 24, and they don't have that.

Yet.
