25 Video Game Items We'd Want

Maxus

First Post
So the other day, I noticed that in the Publisher's section, someone had put up a preview of 25 Video Game items, which can be seen here: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?t=232924

On another board, it was determined that the previewed items were just a little lacking in desireability, and someone decided to make 25 Video Game Items you'd like to have. And she did so.

http://www.tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=48764&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I will offer a little bit of explanation, though: One of the common assumptions members of that board use is that anything over 15,000 gp should be unpurchasable and should instead be acquired by actually doing stuff other than spending money.

Some of the items (TMs) make reference to classes other people have written on there. If you're really curious about what they're talking about, I'll try to explain.

So, yeah, enjoy the items!

Ok, I'll just comment on the only Suikoden item present*, since I've played all of the core 5 games and Tactics and thus presumably know a bunch about it (heh).

First off...special runes like Falcon could've been done, I'm not sure if making the True Runes anything less than greater artifacts is appropriate, considering they're basically the GODS of the Suikoden world. The comment: "There are three in particular that we will cover, because I haven't played much of Suikoden V and haven't played I, III or IV." says much. As for each individual true rune (actually, to be a technical prick, the rune of beginning is a true rune. The bright shield and black sword runes are aspects of it, and not actual true runes in their own right), let's see...

Bright Shield: A deflection bonus? Ok, not sure why... As for spells, why Forcecage? Heal just shouldn't be there. There's no real way to mimic Forgiver Sign, so i guess you'd need to just give two spells. Probably Mass Heal and [pick some decently powerful damage spell that lets you do all the damage to one foe or divy it up among several]. Actually pretty good representation, though.

Black Sword: First off, don't recall what Sadism and Masochism do. It should not have Bull's Strength, Black Sword rune has no beneficial effects, only destructive ones. Replace that, and it's pretty good, depending on what those two spells are.

Blue Moon: This one I don't get. The fort save if removed is a little extreme, and I wouldn't expect a player to even remember his original con score after a while, so that could just get annoying. I don't know why it confers the drawbacks of being a Vampire, seemed to me that it mostly doesn't. Perhaps this is partly because the poster didn't play S1. In that, Neclord responds to someone amazed he's out in sunlight by saying that as a runic vampire, he's not vulnerable to bright light (though it does make him a bit sleepy ^_^). I'm not sure about the other vampire vulnerabilities, but it's certainly possible it doesn't confer those, either. It also seems to give some other powers, based on combats in the game, though maybe Neclord was just a caster before stealing the rune, who knows?

*And geeze, was that list biased! two items from FF 7, one from the entire Suikoden series, and none from FF 6, which is a vastly superior game to 7. Nothing from Legend of Dragoon, and apparantly Makai Kingdom is the greatest game ever. Oh well.

Oh, also: welcome to ENWorld! I'm not the best greetings committiee, clearly.

Yeah, I actually had to look up Makai Kingdom (which admittedly looks pretty funny)...As for the other points:

I've played through most of FFVI, but, eh, I can't think of anything super-distinctive from it. Despite Kefka's awesomeness.

As for the True Rune thing, I was similarly puzzled by the abilities assigned to the Tome of Eternal Darkness, which, despite the name, is actually pretty beneficial and mostly acts as repository of knowledge/spellbook anyone can use.

And don't worry about offending me. I've been hanging around the Internet since I was 12. I'm a year away from a geology degree. Suffice to say, I have a pretty tough hide.

Thanks for the welcome, though!
