25 Years of Dungeons and Dragons

My gaming group began on May 24th, 1982 so today marks our twenty-fifth anniversary. Next Sunday will be our 1018th game. We are currently five games into our 140th module (Iron Orb of the Duergar from Dungeon #46) and three of the playing characters in this module have been played off-and-on from our very first game. The six current members of our gaming group have all been around since the first three years.


So I'm curious how many other long-running campaigns there are out there.

Damn. That's impressive. I think the longest we ever managed with the same characters was 2 years, off and on. And to actually know how many games and modules is pretty cool.

That is IMPRESSIVE! Man. I've been playing only since 1999, and the longest campaign yet was about 11 months. And that you still have few of the original characters... just wow! I'm gonna go and hide under me sewers now.

Simply amazing. I have no doubt you and your group are in rare company. Few gamers stick together for more than a few years, much less decades.

My first gaming group lasted five years. My current gaming group (23 years later) has been going for five and looks to keep on going. Currently, we are still in the campaign we started with, though it is rapidly coming to a close...

My current gaming group, consisting of two married couples, have been gaming together for over 20 years now. Our longest running campaign is probably about a year. We play every week for between 5 and 8 hours each session with a few weekends off for family things and such. Our DM likes to run games until characters are about 10th level, then prefers to start over with new toons. As he has been running interesting games for 20 years, who am I to complain!

A very impressive feat indeed! I personally celebrate thirty years of gaming this year, though no game I've run has come close to more then a 3-5 year stint. Kudos and here's to the next 25 years.
