28 Days Later -- alternate ending

Anyone know of anyother projects this director is working on. I think he did a bangup job on this one and would like to see more from him.

Ooh! Ooh! Two and a half recommendations:

* Shallow Grave, the movie that gave Danny Boyle his fame. A very dark comedy about roommates; the opening sequence is a requirement for watching if you currently have roommates.
* Trainspotting: They should ditch the DARE program in schools and instead show this movie, a comedy about heroin users. Funny at times, nightmarish at times (watch for the baby!), but mostly it's simultaneously funny and nightmarish. Nobody who sees this movie will ever do heroin.
* Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise: Okay, I've not seen this, but just based on its name, how bad can it be? According to IMDB, it's a comedy about travelling salesmen, and cracked everyone up at the Toronto Film Festival.

The alternate ending is on the European DVD.

Spoiler

It's pretty silly as the movie ends with the bicycle guy being replaced with a hen in the last scene at the cottage. Basically it implies that he dies.

Oh, it's more to it than that. Earlier it shows how the girls triy to bring him back to life in a hospital setting and how he experiences (in a dream) the transition into being dead. The psychodelic dream ends with him getting hit by a truck.

Huh? That doesn't sound like the alternate ending I saw. Hen? Cottage? Bicycle guy? Dream? Truck?

The alternate ending I got when I saw it a week ago was the 2 women brought Jim to a hospital and couldn't save him, then it ending with them walking away from his dead body down a corridor.

I would still have preferred for it to end just as they pulled away in the rain (before the whole stupid gates thing), with the commander's screams still reverberating in the mansion.

Spoilers.

After reading the things in this thread, I am still confused...

Spoiler question....

Ok, that was enough warning.
My fiance and I just saw it last night, but didn't stick around for the 'alternate' ending... did they just add on the part about saving the bicycle guy at the end, or was there something competely different?
