I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can not search the forums here so...
In the PH 3.0 the Daylight spell it says something like "If Daylight is overlapped with an area of magical darkness the normal prevailing light conditions apply in the overlapping areas" further down it says Daylight counters or dispells any darkness spell of equal or lesser level.
My DM had a monster use some kind of combo darkness spell out of the BoVD that is higher than 2nd level. I cast Daylight on a pebble in front of me. Daylight and the BoVD spell overlapped. Thus I didn't use Daylight as a counter or a dispell. What exactly occurs?
I think the operative line is "area of magical darkness" which seems to me that it includes basically ALL magical darkness effects thus the prevailing light conditions would apply. To support this arguement I note that in that line darkness is not capitalized nor placed in italics.
What do you guys think?
thanks psul
