[3.0] Wall of Iron stupidity

No matter what they intended, it's obviously unclear. I still find it hard to believe that with a DC 27 I could simply punch a hole through a 1 inch thick iron wall. I find that hard to believe.

Why? With a DC 27 it takes a super-human to punch through it. I mean the minimum is a STR 24, way more than any human is going to have (speaking from a believability standpoint only). Even an average Fire Giant would have a pretty tough time to roll it casually. I think a 27 fits with the idea that the wall is damn hard to break through.

I think that the spell assumes that if the wall is ABLE to be knocked down, any STR against it are for THAT purpose and not to put a hole in it.

I agree with this assessment and all that follow. I do believe it would be harded to knock this thing down than put a hole in it. Take for instance a bullet. Many gunshots are strong enough to punch through material, but don't exert enough force to pull an entire section of material down. STR 50 punches go through the wall, not knock it down. :)

Yes, and that's why the STR check DC 27 for punching through the wall should apply regardless of the wall is secured or not. In my opinion, that is.
