From the 3.5 SRD, under Damage Reduction:

"A few very powerful monsters are vulnerable only to epic weapons; that is, magic weapons with at least a +6 enhancement bonus. "

I definatly like this...mainly because I love the Bane enhancement. My players have learned to loathe it though...my campaign has lots of Elves...so, lots of Orcs with Elf Bane weapons. :D

Just the thing an evil DM would do :D

In a campaign I played in, the DM let us face a demon lord with a weapon of unholy power - knowing that I just had to destroy it, for it was an instrument of evil (I was a bladesinger and champion of corellon, very dedicated to my people and to good in general). Our powergamer-wizard nearly jumped across the table to kill me, for that damn sword was really expensive.

In 3.0, I only saw a couple of bane weapons created. They were created mostly for RP reasons. I believe the bonus was a little weak for +2. Now, that holy etc overcomes DR while bane does not, I think bane is just a nice +1 bonus.

///////////////////////////////

I always thought these abilities should behave alike.

In addition, I like having more +1 weapon abilties (reducing the ones that can be simplified)... since it makes things more flexible.

As a DM, I have to say those are the most FUN situations to watch occur. Especially when physical violence is threatened..of course, I end it with some swift character deaths and a few shots from the dice gun...but its still very fun. ;)

There would have been no quick character death: There were tensions between his evoker and my bladesinger which have been on for quite some time, so both had contigency plans. He probably would have lost, cause I were definetly the better damage dealer, and even if he had used Imprisonment (one of his secret weapons), the elves would have found and freed me. And then he would have the whole People against him.

If the campaign would have gone on for a little longer, fights would have broken out. Good it stopped where it did.

hhmmm...I like this!
IMC I will likely limit it to Demons and Devils, etc. types using them mostly so as to not over do it, but it seems to make a great weapon for them to use since most of them don't really need any weapons most of the time.
Very flavourful! mmm...tasty even! :D
And of course there has to be an Orcish Greataxe and/or a Falchion that is Elf-Bane out there..

oohh and a giant or two with Dwarf-bane weapons!
