[3/5] dodge

I've seen conflicting things on this board about the 3.5 dodge. Do we know for sure if it is +1 or +2?

Also have we heard if the wacky rule allowing cleave and to "stack" still exists in 3.5? That ruling drives me crazy....

simply going by memory and hersay ...

dodge will give a +2 bonus vs one opponent or +1 bonus vs all

but then again I may not be trust worthy

ForceUser is correct. Andy Collins said Dodge was not changed.

And I am not sure what you mean by the wacky ruling regarding cleave and stacking.

I'm hoping Andy Collins has made a mistake.

The presumed improved version of Dodge is the version presented in Mutants & Masterminds. Maybe Mr. Collins meant that the feat hasn't changed since then.

Guess I don't follow you here. What does a variant feat in Mutants & Masterminds have to do with official 3.5e feats? IIRC, M&M doesn't even carry the d20 logo, so they felt free to do whatever they liked with the feats.

The rules aren't a straightjacket. If you like the M&M version, use that. I like the D&D version; a friend of mine is very good with statistics and he says that over time feats like Dodge and Weapon Focus significantly alter damage taken/damage dealt ratios.

We use Sidestep from AEG's Spycraft in place of Dodge because 3.0 Dodge is lame and underpowered, IMO. Sidestep is +2 AC vs. 1 foe or +1 AC vs. all foes. Much handier.

I just wish they had added agile ripost from d20 modren (you get an AoO if the person who you're dodging against misses you).

In a game like D&D, where melee is so important, that's a pretty strong feat.

Dragon had a modifed version, which only worked with "finesse" weapons [and required finesse as a prereq]. That's a better fit, I think.
