D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] draw a weapon

Actually, you can't. You only get to draw the weapon as a free action in conjunction with a regular move, not as part of a free 5' step. You can't draw faster by moving 5' than by standing still ...

Hmmm... I guess you're right on that one. I never noticed that little "regular move" detail. I'll have to let my players know about that one. ;)

Unless I'm very wrong about this, you can draw the weapon as part of a 5' "move" but you can't Full Attack at that point because you've taken a "move" action. You only have a Standard Action left over.

Then again, you haven't really done anything for "free" at that point since, by the normal rules, you can Draw a Weapon (a MEA), make an attack (Standard Action) and, since you have not made any actual movement, take a 5' step. You can do those in any order that you like (with the caveat that presumably you will want to Draw before you Attack).

It's simple really:

you can draw your weapon while you move, hence drawing as a free action if you move.

You cannot draw your weapon for free if you do not move, unless you have a rules bender - er I mean feat - to allow you to do so.

Right. And this 5ft movement will provoke AoOs. :D

Some, such as myself, would disagree that a charge counts as a regular move.
I think he meant that as another use for Quickdraw. You can't draw while charging, but you can quickdraw (for free) and then take your partial charge.

Note that the wording of the rule is that you can draw "a" weapon while making a move action.

This means that without quickdraw all those two weapon fighters either need to spend a full round drawing weapons (two move actions) or they need to draw one weapon & attack one round, the next one & attack the second round, and don't get to make a full attack until the third.

I believe it is specified that someone who is skilled at Two Weapon Fighting may draw both weapons as a Free Action as part of a normal move.

If you have the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, you may draw two weapons in the time it would normally take you to draw one. I believe this is specified in the PHB.

[Dang, that's twice in a row I was too slow on the draw. Need more caffeine...]
