D&D 3.x [3.5] Eldritch knight abilities?

It would be if it were a 20 level class. But it is only 10 levels,

I will bet money that within six months, someone will publish another PrC that also gives fighter BAB and wizard spellcasting. Lo and behold, you now have effectively 20 (about) levels of fighter _and_ wizard.

In fact, there already is such a PrC. It's the raumathari battlemage in Unapproachable East, which is what the EK is based on.

And I'll gladly drive a working Yugo over a Yugo that only drives in its first two gears.

Do you really believe those are your only two choices?

Well, if Fighter/Wizard is "car", yes.

(edit: Well, "Spellsword" might be a Yugo with go faster stripes and fur artound the steering wheel.)

I hated multclassing in 2E, especially fighter/wizards. I like the way it was solved in 3.0E. I'll ban the EK, should I convert to 3.5E, ASF or no ASF. Fighter BAB and 9/10 of wizard caster level progression is overpowered imho.

That's quite a rush to judgement. Try stat'ing a few up at various levels. You'll find its quite hard to make one that goes beyond the mid-range of powerfulness.

Over ten levels, they gain 1 (one) fighter feat.

The primary advantage of fighters is their enormous amounts of feats, not their BAB.

Taking away the feats, EK is in no way overpowering a fighter. Different, yes. Interesting, I'd say so (always fun to loosen a fireball), but you won't see many EK spring attacking, wielding exotic weapons, and making lots of fancy combat manuevers.

Yup, but the one from races of faerun. IIRC it has spell progression, not a separate spell list.

You recall incorrectly. The Bladesinger has a separate spell list, and its only change from the T&B errata was that they can use rapiers as well as longswords for bladesong style.

Also, the Raumathari Battlemage has Cleric's BAB and 9/10 spell progression.
