3.5 fast...

So, what's the best way to get 3.5 fast, when it comes out on the 17th (right?). My local gaming store is sometimes slow about releasing the books and I'm putting my new campaign on hold until 3.5 is release. Since we're itching to play it, I'm trying to see what's the fastest way to get the books. Thanks guys! :)

If you can't get it in time...

Download the new SRD; I think they'll put it up very soon when 3.5 will be released.

That should keep you going until you get the books. :)

In Huntsville there's Books-A-Million, Barnes & Noble, and Bookmark (which is the only locally owned gaming store). B&N carries very few gaming books, and BAB does but I suspect they are slow on stocking them (though I really don't know since I don't shop there). Bookmark is an "ok" store, but not awesome; the other gaming store in town closed down unfortunately. They were always great about carrying stuff on time.

Boy, I miss Little Wars in Baton Rouge. That was a gaming store...

Anyway, printing out the SRD isn't out of the question, so I might just do that... just hate to :(.

Two options;

1) Take Darkness's advice and download the SRD and use that until you can get the books.

2) Pre-order or reserve your copies from a WotC store if there is one in your area.

You could pre-order them online, but I've found that most delivery times tend to be unreliable at best if you don't want to pay the money for overnight shipping.

There's been a fairly good amount of preview material out for it, so why not transition the campaign gradually by adding new stuff and replacing old stuff as you go? The actual changes to the game as a whole are going to be minimal. Then when you do get the books, you'll probably have a lot less painful transition. That's pretty much what a lot of people did with 3e.

The Books-A-Million down where I used to live, and visit a lot, regularly gets D&D and RPG material. I don't know if its like that at other ones, but they had a huge wall full of old and new material...have a Media Play near you? I got Savage Species at my local Media Play the day it was released.
:cool:

I couldn't stand it anymore so I preordered from WalMart.

Heh. I just want to get that anti corporate/buy from your FLGS thing going again. :D :D :D

So I'll either get it 2 weeks (in which case I will come here and crow like a rooster) before everyone or never get it at all (in which case I will be eating a giant helping of crow). ;)
