does anyone have a nice word document or file that has all the monsters in the monster manual in stat block format?

I am about to release Monster 3.5 which will allow one to output stat-blocks for all monsters in the 3.5 SRD.

Improvements over Monster 3.1
More accurate Data
Sorting of Monsters
Auto-adding of Celestial or Fiendish Template
The output is controlled by a Template file and is thus customizable.

Check my sig for Monster 3.1 to see the old program. Also, check out the Summon Natures Ally and Summon Monster Stat blocks that I produces from the program while I was testing it and verifying data.

Did you want to 'suck' these stat-blocks in and use the data in PCGen?
The data is in a database and may be easier to get at.

Thanks,
Scott Metzger

Scott - which stat block are you using? There are a lot of different versions floating around. (It's not helping that WotC keeps changing theirs.)

I used to refer to www.d20statblock.org , but that site seems to be down/dead.

Also, I think I speak for everyone when I say that when you do release your new program, please announce it prominently. :D

I am using my own stat-block. But the program allows you to specify a different template file, thus you can define your own format.

Here is an Earth Elemental....

Earth Elemental, Greater Huge Elemental (Earth, Extraplanar); CR 9; HD 21d8+105; hp 199;
Init -1; Spd 30 ft.; Space/Reach 15 ft./15 ft.; AC 20 (-2 size, -1 Dex, +13 natural), touch 7, flat-footed 20;
Base Atk +15; Grp +33; Atk Slam +23 melee (2d10+10); Full Atk 2 slams +23 melee (2d10+10) 2;
SA Earth mastery, push; SQ Damage reduction 10/-, earth glide, darkvision 60 ft., elemental traits; AL Usually neutral; SV Fort +17, Ref +6, Will +9;
Str 31, Dex 8, Con 21, Int 8, Wis 11, Cha 11
Skills: Listen +14, Spot +14
Feats: Alertness, Awesome Blow, Cleave, Great Cleave, Improved Bull Rush, Improved Sunder, Iron Will, Power Attack
Earth Mastery(Ex): An earth elemental gains a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls if both it and its foe are touching the ground. If an opponent is airborne or waterborne, the elemental takes a -4 penalty on attack and damage rolls. (These modifiers are not included in the statistics block.)
Push(Ex): An earth elemental can start a bull rush maneuver without provoking an attack of opportunity. The combat modifiers given in Earth Mastery, above, also apply to the elemental's opposed Strength checks.
Earth Glide(Ex): An earth elemental can glide through stone, dirt, or almost any other sort of earth except metal as easily as a fish swims through water. Its burrowing leaves behind no tunnel or hole, nor does it create any ripple or other signs of its presence. A move earth spell cast on an area containing a burrowing earth elemental flings the elemental back 30 feet, stunning the creature for 1 round unless it succeeds on a DC 15 Fortitude save.

The HTML for Bold and underline won't show up here. But you can see what the stat-block will look like by downloading the Summon Monster statblocks.

I plan on announcing it on the EN World front pagem, the Software forum, and the d20 publisher forum.

Hopefully, I'll get something out early next week.

:)

Hi Leopold,

Although I still don't forgive you for the fiendish ass-bear ( :p ), I do have a quick solution for you (which I am personally using).

Go to www.dmgenie.com ... download the program. It will let you create a monster (either standard, or you can roll its stats and hp), and one of the output screens is a statblock, all done for you. Three clicks on any monster, and you have a statblock. The format is a little off (no size/reach, etc), but it's quicker to tweak it or work with the slightly different block.

I'm using it to print monsters on index cards, and using them when they encounter stuff.

Precisely the kinda stuff I'm looking for. I find it far easier (especially in my IRC game) to reference index cards than flip through the MM. If I gotta look in the MM for details (spells and so on), that's one thing, but in general, if I have the combat info right there, man, that's convenient.

Could just be me, though.

Fear the bear!!!

next year it will be a wombat! I'll check out dmgenie...

Okay, it's not quite a wombat, but here's the statblock for a dire weasel.

Having had so much fun playing in your game, Leopold, I'm thinking I want to run a pickup game myself. That was just great .... hopefully I can rope you and Storminator and the others into playing, eh?

==============================

Dire Weasel; Dire weasel: CR 2; Size M; HD 3d8; hp 13; Init +4; Spd 40 ft; AC 16, touch 14, FF 12; BAB +2; Atk: +6 melee (1d6 + 3, Bite); SA Attach, blood drain; SQ Low-light vision, scent; AL N; SV Fort +3, Ref +7, Will +4; Str 14, Dex 19, Con 10, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 11.
Skills and Feats: Appraise -4, Balance +4, Bluff +0, Climb +2, Concentration +0, Craft (Armorsmith) -4, Craft (Bowmaking) -4, Craft (Gemcutting) -4, Craft (Locksmithing) -4, Craft (Trapmaking) -4, Craft (Weaponsmith) -4, Craft (Other) -4, Diplomacy +0, Disguise +0, Escape Artist +4, Forgery -4, Gather Information +0, Heal +1, Hide +8, Intimidate +0, Survival +1, Jump +2, Listen +3, Move Silently +8, Perform +0, Craft (any one) -4, Craft (any two) -4, Ride +4, Search -4, Sense Motive +1, Spot +5, Swim +2, Use Rope +4, Remote View -4; Alertness, Weapon Finesse, Stealthy.

Dire weasels grow to be up to 10 feet long and can reach a weight of 700 pounds.

Combat
Dire weasels stalk their prey in the dark and then leap on it, biting and clawing.

Attach (Ex): A dire weasel that hits with its bite attack latches onto the opponent's body with its powerful jaws. An attached dire weasel loses its Dexterity bonus to AC and thus has an AC of 12. An attached dire weasel can be struck with a weapon or grappled itself. To remove an attached dire weasel through grappling, the opponent must achieve a pin against the creature.
Blood Drain (Ex): A dire weasel drains blood for 1d4 points of Constitution damage each round it remains attached.
