What I want to know is where the heck is the White Box thread? I have some Greyhawk and Blackmoor rule problems I need help with.

Tried to use Search? Or was it lost in the board reorganization process?

Okay, I just tried, but I am afraid "White Box" is not specific enough. 10 or more result pages! Maybe expanded search helps more...

With all due respect, I think there needs to be a forum rules clarification on this, because evidently I don't know what's civil and what's not.

IMO the most uncivil thing in this thread was the OP's reference to anyone posting a 4E thread performing a certain sex act that might require kneepads, presumably to WotC. This term is often used as an insult that most would consider to be far more crass than any insult to one's intelligence. I consider the OP to be blatantly more offensive than any other post in this thread. At the VERY LEAST, I would think this would seem to not pass the Eric's Grandma test.

Now, normally I would have just reported this, but I've seen three mods in this thread who haven't commented at all about this. Please explain why the OP is considered acceptable according to forum rules while the others are not.

This is a pretty fair question. I've notified the mods and asked them to lock this entire thread. It started off on the wrong foot, and it should've been buried 4 pages ago.

If you're sticking with 3.x, about all I can say is, "Welcome to the wonderful world of playing a "dead game". Because that's basically the group you've joined. At least until Pathfinder comes out. Then maybe you'll be able to join the "nostalgia" gamer group.

4e is D&D. You'll just have to face reality and get used to it.

In a few years 3.x players will be just like the rest of us who play games like Reign, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Burning Wheel, Runequest,and other fantasy games not called D&D. Now your game may say D&D or AD&D on the cover - but if it is'nt the latest edition, you'll soon be in the same boat as the rest of us.

You'll just have to accept the fact that you enjoy playing an RPG that doesn't give you access to the largest player base in the world.

Because there is the current edition of D&D, and then there is everybody else.

Honestly, I kind of like the knee pads quote. Only because as someone who has been skeptical yet hopeful about 4e I've perused threads around here wherein someone gives an honest question about a perceived flaw to the new edition and are suddenly set upon like bloody meat in a shark tank by people who apparently think that 4e has nothing wrong with it

Its pretty much the way most threads have been going here for awhile now. The mods occasionally come in with the colored text warning but it doesnt seem to do much overall.

Fwiw, I still continue to post at Necromancer which is also a split forum (though it leans more pro-4E) because people there are still way more civil than this place.

Folks here talk about condescending or sarcastic tones. Umm... Pot... Kettle.....thing again. Take a look at some of the other Pro-4E posters in other threads, theres plenty to go around.

p.s. I wasnt sure what the kneepad thing meant and I could care less anyway.
I think Hjorimir was looking for a fight there anyway. If the OP bothered you that much you could ignore that part of his post and address the other part, or you could have not even answered the post. Much easier to do than start a skirmish. Having a thick skin helps in any war.

I think the first three responses to this thread gave a full and sufficient answer, and sadly there has been incivility since (and apparently 'kneepads' has an implication which I, in my innocence, was unaware of?)

So since the thread starts with an insult, has had its key question answered and has some rudeness resulting, I'm closing it now.
