animate dead 4th level for sor/wiz a big improvement. i still think it should of been level 3 like the clerics there turning ability shows off there being better with undead enough. But at least its not the hey we're too lame to look at how things should be different now that the cleric has 9 spells levels 2 level difference problem of 3e.

But still clerics of fluffy bunnies can handle undead beter than necromancer wizards and IMO that's lame. I'd alsmot prefer they just ditch necromancy as a specialty, so they don't look so freakin lame with there undead calling cards.

I sorta already knew this but its cool to see it confirmed dinasaur animal companions. I can't wait to layeth the smackdown on some players with a megaraptor animal companion.

I don't mind shield getting knocked down a bit but why take it over mage armor ever? assuming mage armor is balanced, then shield now seems weak.

I think you underestimate how important invulnerability to magic missiles is for a wizard. At low levels they can take you out quickly, and as wizard levels increase they are still bad news. This is the only real defence against them (unless you like carrying enough brooches of shielding to make you look like a pearly king!)

Cheers

so you gotta problem with the way I dress do you.

Honestly considering how cheap they are everyone should have at least one broach of shielding. Unlesss you got something better for that slot.

There was absolutely no reason why you couldn't have done this in 3e, just by using the animal handling skill to train beasts (as dinosaurs were then). It would have been easy for a 12th level ranger with a bit of focus in this area to have a couple of trained tyrannosaurs as pets.

The only (nice) difference now is the wholly different aspect of animal companions being able to gain HD, Str etc... now that IS cool, even more so should it be possible to retrofit that to some of your creatures!

Cheers

Hmm, X2 damage from Str bonus for 2H, instead of 1.5.

Makes it cleaner (no lost fractions), but I kind of liked the fact that 1H + Off Hand = 2 Hand -- even though in reality you can actually do more with both arms together than the sum total of them individually. I hear whining from the TWF proponents in the future (sigh).

big ass swords are all you need. x2 str bonus on damage not x1.5. Oh and still .5 on off hand.

2handed swords are my favorite style, cloud from ff7 is stuck in my head when I think fighters.(I realy liked his 1st sword the big cleaverish looking one) anyhoo even I think this is too much who the heck will play sword and board now.

Bad change IMO, a really bad change.

I think with the +4 for Tower shields the sword & boarders may balance out (given the revised Tower Shield mechanics).

Still have to mull this one over, though (x1.5 vs x2, that is).

Need to post this over at AC's site and get the reasoning.
