3.5 Scoops

And in one swoop, Conjuration went from being a dump school to a must-have.
I'm sorry, but for any mage who has ever valued flexibility over raw power, Conjuration has always been a preferred class over Evocation, or any other school. Now it simply gets to reassert that dominance.

Damn it, I was very annoyed by these abilities trumping hide in the splat-book defenations, and was really really really really hoping that would stay out of the revised DMG.

well it says usually. IMC usually means when people aren't hiding.

Indeed.
Wasn't thinking very clearly at the time. Transmutation is, of course, also very powerful in terms of flexibility. (But I still feel that Conjuration is cooler. :))

He did say that he was just giving us the gist of those abilities, not the full description. Perhaps there is more clarification for situations that will let you avoid detection (sonar negated by full cover, or keen smell fouled by strong odors, for example).

Even if they do end up being as presented, it's easy to house-rule it.

So does this mean that invisibility is now going to be severly weakened?

Actually Invisibility gains back some ground since Blindsense only pinpoints it doesn't ignore (skip the guess a square but still has 50% miss chance).

Makes it the middle ground between Scent abilities (aware 30' and pinpoint with Standard action or within 5', still 50% miss) and Blindsight (completely ignores invis, no miss chance).
