3.5 SRD and Monsters as Characters Logic

I haven't seen the actuall MM but was looking at the 3.5 SRD and where it has entries for Monsters as Characters. Okay

But then I go to Sahuagin and find that there is no 'Sahuagin Character entry' and yet their are things like Troll Characters etc etc.

So is this just an oversight or not and on what basis did WOTC decide what Monster races were suitable as characters and what weren't?

can sahuagin breathe air? if they're fully aquatic, that might have something to do with it. (it would make it hard to run a Sahuagin in a normal party.)

Merfolk also lack a racial stats section, and i'd think they'd be more likely as PCs than either sahuagin or trolls. again, its the water dependency thing, i bet.

Yeah I suppose your right - but there are other things like say Ettins (who don't get a character entry) but the various 'true' giants and trolls that do.

I suppose its easy enough with the HD +LA rule (making Sahuagin ECL +4). Oh well my moans over I'm happy now
