Um, P-cat, do you have a different version of the SRD, or are there errata out there, or something? My says:

It was early, and I goofed. :D

My point was supposed to be that because it is a standard action, you can't use manyshot with a full attack. I sure didn't actually say that, though!

Me too! I'm sure that if you also needed bat guano, tho, then all would be well. ;)

Or a glass rod and some felt. I still remember getting into an argument with someone about how D&D was *eeeeeevil* because of all the spells in the back, and finally just breaking down into rage and screaming "Look, if I could actually zap you merely by rubbing a bit of glass with felt, you'd be charcoal by now!"

As off topic as that is.

Anyway, no, I have no problem with Many Shot.

My pet hate is Many Shot.

Not even Legolas in the Lord of the Rings film does it.
I see you've already been corrected (and FYI he does it against the cave troll), but the irony is that I believe Andy Collins has been quoted as stating that the Manyshot feat was directly inspired by Legolas' maneuver in FOTR.

"D&D. Inspired by LOTR for over 20 years."

Green Arrow used "manyshot" but that was in his sillier days. He normally fired one arrow at a time.
Yeah, like with the boxing-glove arrows?
What was the name of his little buddy, before he went straight in the 70s and started doing the Black Canary? Scarlet, Target Boy, Arrow Catching Lad, something like that?

Just for the record, I hate you for making me reveal that I know Roy Harper, aka Speedy's name. :)

He ended up a junkie, as I recall. Then he got clean and fought drug dealers, and now I think he shoots people.

Also, the Daoist swordsman in A Chinese Ghost Story was doing it in 1987. That's way before any guys in tights, whether men or elves.

That's not a fair comparison.

The swordsman had the Tao song.

NOTHING beats the Tao song.

If you take a standard action, you can use Manyshot. If you take a full-round action, you can get iterative attacks and use Rapid Shot. You cannot do both (unless Hasted, I suppose).

Haste gives you an extra attack if you take a full round action to attack.

I'm not bothered by the Manyshot feat but I do think that it's a bit silly. I agree that it's a bad choice for an automatic ranger ability, it seems to me that it should be the type of thing that very few archers would ever do.

It's actually the kind of move that I see little reason to have a feat for. If a player running a archer wanted to try it as a cool move, I'd rather just wing it by giving some kind of random penalty or something. I can't imagine wanting to devote a feat to it so I could do it all the time, that just makes it less interesting, IMO.
